Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville have engaged in a social media dispute regarding Liverpool's ownership, as the club's transfer activities are likely to extend into the upcoming season. Despite acquiring Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton for £35m and Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig for £60m, Liverpool still requires additional reinforcements due to the departure of six key midfielders.
The Reds' efficiency in the transfer market was well-known, but with the departures of Michael Edwards and Julian Ward, their last two sporting directors, the club has faced challenges in upholding those high standards.

Carragher criticized his ex-club's dealings as "embarrassing" on social media in response to the news that their £45m third bid for Romeo Lavia, the 19-year-old midfielder from Southampton, was rejected.
"Liverpool has been known for swiftly and seamlessly finalizing deals for years," the pundit expressed on the social media platform X. "If you believe he is not worth £50m, then move on. If you genuinely want him, be willing to pay the price."
"Furthermore, I don't understand why LFC isn't showing interest in Caicedo. While it may require a substantial investment, Liverpool has already received significant funds from the transfers of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho."
"As we approach the start of the new Premier League season, which commences with Liverpool facing Chelsea on Sunday, live on We, Gary Neville contributed his perspective by responding to his fellow pundit."
"Do you finally acknowledge that Klopp has been protecting your owners for the past 5-6 years?" Neville inquired.
To which Carragher retorted, "Gary, you are completely unaware of the situation at Liverpool! The owners implemented a self-sustaining strategy that Klopp embraced and achieved extraordinary results!"

"The envy of Europe was once the transfer department, which has now been replaced by Jurgen Klopp's full control over the club. Over the past 18 months, Liverpool has had three Directors of Football (DOFs), with the current one being someone who came out of retirement specifically for this summer's transfer activities. Moreover, this DOF has a close relationship with the manager."
Liverpool's annual wage bill surpasses Arsenal's by £150m. The numbers speak for themselves.
Unlike Salford, Liverpool doesn't enjoy the financial backing of an investor like Peter Lim. You don't see the Liverpool players flying off to plead for more funds at the end of the season like you and your teammates do.
Liverpool's latest Lavia bid rejected by Southampton

Southampton have rejected Liverpool's third bid for midfielder Romeo Lavia.
The latest offer is understood to be in the region of £45m.
Ongoing negotiations are taking place with Southampton, however, it is believed that the Championship club is firm on their valuation of the 19-year-old at £50m.
According to a source, Chelsea is also showing interest and monitoring the situation.
Lavia still has four years remaining on his contract with Southampton. Despite joining the club from Manchester City the previous summer, the Belgium international is anticipated to depart following Southampton's relegation from the Premier League last season.
