The Z-Fighters, a team of Earth's strongest heroes, have members with varying levels of usefulness in battle. Even the weakest fighter among them, who was introduced in DBZ, should not be subject to hate. Dragon Ball GT confirms this.
Mr. Satan, also known as Hercule, is a professional human martial artist who first appeared in Dragon Ball Z's Cell Saga. When Cell initiated the Cell Games and challenged the world, the renowned Z-Fighters, including Goku, Vegeta, Future Trunks, Krillin, and Gohan, responded. However, Mr. Satan, driven by the need to maintain his reputation as the world's strongest fighter, was also obliged to face Cell, despite being significantly weaker. Despite his lack of power, Mr. Satan took credit for Cell's eventual defeat, which further elevated his fame. Later on, at a World Martial Arts Tournament, Hercule paid off Android 18 to intentionally lose to him, once again preserving his status. Additionally, he received credit for Goku's victory over Majin Buu. In essence, Hercule is a deceitful individual who has falsely claimed credit for the victories of other fighters since his debut. However, this does not mean he is entirely without value.
Dragon Ball GT Confirms Mr. Satan Deserves More Respect
In Dragon Ball GT season 1, episode 28, Goku, Pan, and Trunks return to Earth after a long journey across the universe in search of the Black Star Dragon Balls. However, they discover that Earth has been taken over by Baby, a powerful Machine Mutant who can control people's thoughts by laying eggs in their heads. Trunks quickly falls victim to Baby's control, while Goku is seemingly killed. However, Mr. Satan manages to survive by hiding inside Buu. When he finally emerges, he is confronted by an angry mob under Baby's influence, who try to add him to the hive-mind. Despite being a regular human without special powers, Mr. Satan skillfully fights off the mob with the help of Buu and escapes. His ability to overcome such odds showcases his intelligence and makes him a renowned martial artist, even in a world where abilities like ki-blast and flight are necessary. If someone were to face a mind-controlled mob armed with weapons in real life, they would be considered extraordinary. Mr. Satan's remarkable strength and presence in that moment highlight his exceptional capabilities.
Mr. Satan was aware that he couldn't overpower Baby during the initial takeover. However, he understood that if he managed to survive for just a short period of time, he could provide support to individuals like Goku and Pan who possessed the ability to defeat Baby. Despite being regarded as a fraud in DBZ, Dragon Ball GT showcases Mr. Satan as a skilled and astute Z-Fighter, especially in a dire 'end of the world' situation.
