Ezra Hasn't Used A Lightsaber In At Least Nine Years

As strange as it sounds, in their current situation, Sabine is actually more skilled in wielding a lightsaber than Ezra, and he is aware of this fact. Ahsoka's involvement takes place after the events of The Mandalorian season 3 in the Star Wars timeline, as evidenced by Carson Teva's reference to Moff Gideon's uprising on Mandalore during Hera Syndulla’s hearing. This indicates a significant passage of time since Ezra last used a lightsaber in the final season of Star Wars Rebels, approximately nine years ago. While Ezra may have become rusty, he is confident in Sabine's proficiency. Moreover, he is placing his faith in Ahsoka's decision to train Sabine as her Padawan, knowing that Sabine will rise to the challenge.

Ezra Gave Sabine His Lightsaber, & He Considers It Hers

Sabine has possessed the lightsaber for a significant amount of time, leading Ezra to believe that it has truly become her weapon now.

It's possible that Dave Filoni is setting up a significant moment for viewers in Ahsoka's finale, where Ezra is compelled to wield his lightsaber again, similar to Captain America's pivotal moment wielding Mjölnir in Avengers: Endgame. However, for now, Ezra seems to effectively rely on his instinctive fighting skills. It is possible that he has developed an unwavering reliance on the Force during his time in exile, considering it to be his sole weapon against Thrawn.
