Pokemon TCG enthusiasts will need to invest a significant amount of money if they wish to include the highly sought-after Special Illustrated Rare Mew ex card from the Scarlet and Violet 151 Set in their collection. Following the official announcement of the set's release date for the US and international markets by The Pokemon Company, fans have eagerly delved into the unveiled cards, which have already been made available in Japan.
On June 16, The Pokemon Company made a recent announcement regarding the Scarlet and Violet 151 Set, unveiling the English version of Bulbasaur. This set will showcase the original 151 Generation 1 Pokemon, along with 12 new Pokemon ex and over 10 Trainer cards. Renowned for their exceptional artwork and scarcity, many 1996 Pokemon cards continue to captivate fans. The Scarlet and Violet 151 Set will reintroduce these cherished cards, alongside other captivating additions.
A promo card featuring a special illustration of the Rare Mew ex card will be included in the Pokemon TCG Scarlet and Violet 151 set. Unlike the booster pack, this card will be exclusively included in the Scarlet and Violet 151 Ultra Premium Collection. The promo card showcases Mew gracefully soaring above a town on a textured foil card. The artwork on the card undergoes a mesmerizing transformation from a sunrise scene to a sunset scene. The Scarlet and Violet 151 Ultra Premium Collection, priced at $119.99, will be available for purchase in October 2023, both in the US and internationally.
The Japanese version of the card currently available is proving to be the most popular in the set, with resellers pricing it at around $200 on eBay. Apart from Mew's Special Illustration Rare card, Pokemon TCG fans also have their sights set on owning Kadabra's card, which has not been featured in a set for over two decades.
While it is not yet known if this set will be as popular as the first release in 1996, Pokemon TCG fans are excited and already see value in the set due to the inclusion of the Special Illustrated Rare Mew ex, Mewtwo, Snorlax, and the highly requested Kadabra. Collecting Pokemon cards has become a widely popular hobby, and for some collectors, even a business. Fans who are serious about collecting this upcoming set must be prepared to purchase it as soon as it becomes available. Fortunately, a Tokyo shop in Japan has implemented measures to prevent scalpers from buying all the Pokemon cards.
Scarlet and Violet 151 Set will be available in the US and internationally on September 22.
