Combat is at the heart of Diablo 4, and Blizzard Entertainment has done an excellent job with it. From battling lesser enemies to taking down formidable foes, the combat system is well-executed. However, as with any game, some encounters stand out as iconic and challenging, such as the fight against Andariel, the Maiden of Anguish. For those struggling to overcome this particular boss, you're in luck - this article will provide tips on how to emerge victorious.
Who is Andariel in Diablo 4?
Fans of the Diablo franchise will recognize the Maiden of Anguish as a long-standing character, having first appeared as a Lesser Evil and the sister of Duriel in Diablo 2. Though she was only mentioned in later installments, she makes a full return in Diablo 4.
She is successfully summoned by Elias after the events of Acts 3 and 4, and it is now time for the player to take her down and stop a new Reign of Anguish.
How to Beat Andariel in Diablo 4
As the battle against Andariel commences, players must be aware of the challenging environment they are in. Unlike the vast overworld of Diablo 4 or the spacious dungeons, the fight takes place in a compact arena that's constantly hit by sandstorms. Players must be cautious of the sand at the edges of the arena, as they deal persistent damage. Hence, it's crucial to avoid coming into contact with it and focus on defeating Andariel.
Andariel Boss Fight Stage 1
Andariel starts the fight as a chained adversary, making her attacks more challenging to avoid. She employs various tactics to inflict damage, such as using Rune Chains that can immobilize and decelerate players in a specific area. Players can break free from these chains by destroying them. Additionally, Andariel unleashes AoE attacks in the form of red lines that can quickly drain players' health, so it is crucial to avoid them at all costs. Be wary of branching lines that can catch players off guard. To complicate matters, Andariel frequently teleports around the arena, leaving behind dangerous projectiles. Keep an eye on the minimap to locate her position.
Use any available opportunity to inflict damage on the enemy during her attacks and steer clear of avoidable harm. Her usage of Area-of-Effect (AoE) attacks presents a chance to deal consistent damage. It is crucial to maintain a constant barrage of attacks with improved gear and skills to progress to the next phase soon enough.
Andariel Boss Fight Stage 2
Once Andariel's health is reduced to a certain point, she will break free from her restraints and unleash a new set of attacks. Along with her familiar appendages, she will utilize additional tactics to try and defeat her opponents.
Avoid taking damage from the boss's close melee attacks by either staying behind her or keeping a safe distance. Be aware of her extended chain attack and dodge when you see the signal. As the fight progresses, the boss will become more aggressive and it's important to use healing potions wisely and utilize all available skills to defeat her as quickly as possible.
Diablo 4 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
