The Ultimate Stranger Things Timeline Unveiled: A Journey into the Upside Down

The third season of Stranger Things takes the show into uncharted territory. Set during the summer and exploring the Soviet Union, it shifts the spotlight onto the happenings in Hawkins rather than further delving into the Upside Down. Season 3 unravels a gripping conspiracy, packed with thrilling events, all condensed within the span of one intense week.

A power outage engulfs Hawkins, impacting the recently constructed Starcourt Mall.

Brimborn Steel Works, situated on the outskirts of the town, experiences peculiar occurrences, including a massive influx of rats swarming towards the facility.

Saturday, June 29

Rats scurry from across Hawkins in broad daylight to Brimborn. Will, Lucas, Max, and Dustin fail to see them on the hill they are climbing to see up Cerebro.

Nancy, who works late at the Hawkins Post, receives a call from Mrs. Driscoll regarding peculiar behavior of rats in her house. Taking note of it, Nancy plans to conduct an investigation the following day.

Meanwhile, Dustin remains on the hill during nighttime, when his Cerebro machine picks up a Russian communication.

Nancy and Jonathan pay a visit to Mrs. Driscoll, who reveals her belief that the rats had a craving for her fertilizer. Additionally, she presents them with one of the rats she managed to capture, which is displaying abnormal behavior.

Meanwhile, Dustin goes to Scoops Ahoy to meet Steve and informs him about the Russian message.

Hopper visits Town Hall to discuss the Starcourt Mall protesters with Mayor Larry Kline, and while there, he notices a suspicious individual leaving Kline's office.

After being stood up by her current boyfriend, Mike, Eleven spends a day with Max at the mall. By chance, they encounter Lucas, Mike, and Will, but Eleven's anger leads to her ending the relationship with Mike.

During a sleepover, Eleven and Max utilize Eleven's abilities to venture into the Void and secretly observe familiar individuals. While spying on Billy, Eleven witnesses him near Heather, crouched over her. Startled, Billy suddenly locks eyes with Eleven before vanishing completely. Perceiving the incident as peculiar, Eleven confides in Max, and they agree to conduct further investigations the following day.

Monday, July 1

Joyce tells Hopper about the magnets. She theorizes Hawkins Lab has something to do with it. She manages to get Hopper to join her and investigate the lab.

That evening, Joyce and Hopper venture to Hawkins Lab, only to uncover nothing. Suddenly, a Russian soldier named Grigori, the very same enigmatic man Hopper had spotted earlier at Mayor Kline's office, launches an attack on Hopper.

In the chaos, Joyce manages to catch a glimpse of Grigori and even notes down his motorcycle's license plate as he hastily retreats from the scene. Assisting Hopper, she safely escorts him back to his cabin.

Robin and Steve escort Dustin to the rooftop of the mall adjacent to the loading bays where they stumble upon alert armed guards diligently observing as delivery personnel and couriers diligently unload numerous boxes into the storage area.

Nancy and Jonathan return to Driscoll's residence. They encounter her exhibiting peculiar behavior, consuming fertilizer. Without hesitation, they immediately contact the authorities, who promptly transport Driscoll to the hospital.

Under the cover of darkness, they stumble upon Alexei laboring in the basement of the Hess farmhouse. Unfortunately, Grigori discovers Hopper and Joyce's presence at Hess farms, prompting the pair to apprehend Alexei and escape.

Mike successfully convinces Eleven and Max to come to his house. Will discloses to the group that he senses the presence of the Mind Flayer, suggesting it may still be around even after Eleven sealed the gate. In agreement with Max, Eleven expresses her concerns about Billy, suspecting that he might be the new host of the Mind Flayer.

To confirm their suspicions, the group conducts a heat test, as the Mind Flayer has a strong aversion to heat. They lure Billy into the sauna at the local pool and manage to trap him inside. As anticipated, Billy displays signs of being possessed. The group valiantly fights against him, determined to overpower the dark forces within.

Whilst on duty at Scoops Ahoy, Robin suggests to Steve and Dustin that they should try navigating through the air ducts to gain access to the loading bay. She believes this will help them uncover the mysterious activities of the Russians in Stranger Things. The only person who can fit into the ducts that lead to the room is Erica, Lucas's younger sister.

Erica bravely maneuvers through the ducts and successfully opens the door. Inside, the group discovers a peculiar substance within one of the boxes. Suddenly, they find themselves trapped as the room transforms into an elevator and begins to descend.

Hopper and Joyce bring Alexei to Murray's residence in Illinois, seeking his translation skills to uncover the purpose of the Russian presence in Hawkins.

Alexei discloses that the Russians aim to unlock the Upside Down portal, and the one situated in Hawkins is particularly susceptible to their plans.

The Mind Flayer dispatches Tom and Bruce, a reporter at the Hawkins Post who has been possessed, with the task of eliminating Nancy and Jonathan.

Tom and Bruce undergo a transformation, their bodies liquefy and meld together, shaping into a menacing creature from the Upside Down, which proceeds to assault Nancy. However, Eleven intervenes and successfully slays the monstrous entity, while the children observe the remnants of the creature retreat through the sewers, disappearing back towards Brimborn.

Dustin, Erica, Robin, and Steve make it to Russian HQ. They see the scientists trying to open the gate to the Upside Down.

Furthermore, Billy informs Eleven that he and every other creature from the Upside Down will be keeping a close watch on her.

Hopper, Joyce, and Murray successfully avoid Grigori following their enticement to the amusement park from Kline and manage to flee the scene after Grigori shoots Alexei. Upon receiving Dustin's distress signal, they immediately make their way to Starcourt.

A strategic plan is formulated: The adults will take charge of closing the gate located in the Russian laboratory beneath Starcourt, with Erica and Dustin serving as their guides due to their familiarity with the route. Meanwhile, Eleven will team up with Max and Mike to confront Billy. Nancy, Jonathan, Robin, Steve, Lucas, Max, and Will intend to launch an attack on the Upside Down creature when it arrives at the mall.

The closed gate kills the monster.

Dr. Owens and the U.S. military arrive at Starcourt and immediately get to work.

The Ultimate Stranger Things Timeline Unveiled: A Journey into the Upside Down

The Stranger Things timeline is already brimming with details to keep track of, but the final season promises to introduce even more. While Stranger Things season 5 is still a distant prospect and much remains unconfirmed, one thing is certain: the timeline for the concluding season will pose a challenge. The show has perennially grappled with the rapid aging of its young actors, making it increasingly difficult to suspend disbelief and accept them as teenagers. This predicament will only worsen in season 5 due to ongoing actor and writer strikes in Hollywood, causing disruptions to production schedules.
