Linus, an NPC in Stardew Valley, embodies a kind and gentle spirit, reflecting his simple and minimalist lifestyle. Residing in a tent near The Mountains, he holds a deep affinity for nature and possesses extensive knowledge about the wilderness, excelling in foraging for sustenance.

Having a profound appreciation for the natural world, Linus frequently encourages players to reconnect with nature and acquire survival skills in the untamed realm of Stardew Valley. Despite his self-perception as an outcast in town, players have the opportunity to establish a friendship with him through gift-giving and engage in enlightening conversations to gain insight from his wisdom.

Linus’ Loved Gifts

For players in Pelican Town, giving gifts to NPCs is an excellent method to enhance Friendship levels with the townsfolk. Offering a gift that they "Love" will boost Friendship by 80 points, while a "Like" gift increases it by 45 points.

Players have the option to give Linus a maximum of two gifts per week, impacting their Friendship levels with him. On Linus's birthday (Winter 3), an extra gift can be given, which has eight times the usual effect on Friendship. Please note that the video tag is not supported by your browser.

Linus’ Heart Events

Like all other non-player characters (NPCs) in Stardew Valley, Linus also has his own unique heart events that provide players with a glimpse into his backstory. Triggering Linus' heart events is relatively straightforward and uncomplicated.

At any given time, if players have a Friendship level greater than zero points with Linus, they may receive a gift from him through the mail. These gifts can include items such as a Catfish, a Largemouth Bass, a Maki Roll, Fried Calamari, and Sashimi. The likelihood of receiving these gifts increases as the player's friendship with Linus grows.

Zero Hearts but with >50 Friendship Points: This event can only be triggered by players after Spring 7, Year 1. Starting from this day, players who have accumulated 50 Friendship points with Linus can activate this event by entering town between 8 PM and 12 AM on a non-rainy day. During this event, players will observe Linus discovering food inside trash cans near George's house.

Three Hearts: When the friendship between the player and Linus reaches three hearts, Linus will send the player one of his favorite fish recipes, Sashimi, through mail.

Four Hearts: To initiate this event, players should enter the Mountain area near Linus' tent on a rain-free day between 8 PM and 12 AM. Linus will extend an invitation to the player to visit his campsite. He will express his remorse for not placing trust earlier and provide a tutorial on crafting Wild Bait for fishing purposes.

Seven Hearts: Once the player's friendship with Linus reaches seven hearts, they will receive a letter in the mail from him, containing his cherished Fish Taco recipe.

Eight Hearts: To trigger this event, simply exit Robin's house between 9 AM and 5 PM on a non-rainy day. Robin kindly offers to prepare lunch for Linus, but if he declines, she turns to the player and asks if they have any thoughts to share. Expressing happiness for Linus's well-being will significantly strengthen the player's Friendship level with him, adding +250 points.

BONUS: On Winter 15, during Linus's journey to or from the Night Market, there is a rare opportunity for the player to gain +5 heart points by catching Linus catching them rummaging through the trash. This is in contrast to the usual consequence of losing -25 heart points with other villagers.
