Summary
Golden Boy, the standout of Gen V, emerges as an incredibly formidable supe who possesses the potential to outmatch Homelander. In conversations and recollections, Coach Brink highlights Golden Boy's powers, noting that he shares a similar level of strength to Homelander.
Despite requiring injections and participating in experiments, Golden Boy falls short of Homelander's natural strength, suggesting that Homelander still maintains a superior power level. Recognized as one of the most potent supes in The Boys universe, Golden Boy has received validation from Gen V, indicating his potential to defeat Homelander. While The Boys franchise showcases various supes possessing immense power, Homelander has consistently reigned as the top contender. His invulnerability, superhuman strength, and ability to shoot laser beams from his eyes have established him as a formidable adversary. However, Golden Boy from Gen V appears ready to take on the challenge.
Gen V has arrived, bringing with it the highly-anticipated spin-off of Amazon Prime's The Boys. Season 1 of the show is now available. Among the new characters introduced, Golden Boy was a particularly thrilling supe, sparking speculation about his immense power. However, to everyone's surprise, Golden Boy tragically met his end in episode 1 of Gen V. As a result, his abilities were not extensively showcased. However, even in death, Gen V characters continue to discuss the extraordinary strength he possessed, pondering how he would match up against Homelander.
Gen V Episode 6 Line Puts Golden Boy On Homelander's Level
In Gen V episode 6, the majority of the story unfolds in Cate's mind as Marie, Jordan, Andre, and Dusty delve into her memories. During their journey, they stumble upon a memory of Cate's encounter with Dean Shetty and Coach Brink, in which they discuss Golden Boy. Cate expresses her concerns about Golden Boy, and in response, Coach Brink comments that he is becoming even more powerful, comparing him to Homelander and his extraordinary strength.
By drawing a parallel between Golden Boy and Homelander, Coach Brink suggests that Golden Boy might have a chance against the immensely powerful superhuman. Up until now, no supe in The Boys universe has been able to match or surpass Homelander, but according to Brink, Golden Boy could have potentially defeated him. Similar to Homelander, Golden Boy possesses the ability to fly and is invincible, but his pyro-based abilities set him apart from the leader of The Seven. Even though it is unlikely that audiences will witness this epic clash, it is still enjoyable to speculate about the possibility.
Gen V's Golden Boy Proves Homelander Is Still Ahead
Despite Golden Boy reaching levels comparable to Homelander, the latter still maintains the edge. Episode 6 of Gen V reveals that Golden Boy relies on injections from his brother to match Homelander's strength. Without Vought's supplements and The Woods' experiments, Golden Boy falls short of achieving the same level of power as Homelander.
In contrast, Homelander possesses natural strength without any enhancement. He has been genetically modified with Compound V from the very beginning, effortlessly performing extraordinary feats. Although Golden Boy poses a potential threat to Homelander, it is likely that Homelander would still emerge victorious in their encounters most of the time.
