The Ultimate Guide to Uncovering Diablo 4's Most Elusive Collectibles

Discover the most elusive treasures in Diablo 4! Lead Class Designer Adam Jackson unveils the six ultra-rare Unique items currently in the game, along with exclusive insights on how players can acquire these coveted artifacts

Not all unique items in Diablo 4 are created equal. The developers have intentionally raised six of them to a higher tier, deviating from the design philosophy established in Reaper of Souls. This change has left players uncertain about whether it is an improvement or a setback. The exceptionally rare Uniques in Diablo 4 follow a similar path as Path of Exile, enhancing any build and working for all classes, even if a particular class cannot normally use that weapon type.

Among the Uniques that have captivated the community since the game's launch, Harlequin Crest and The Grandfather stand out. Harlequin Crest, in particular, is even more powerful compared to its Diablo 2 counterpart. Despite some issues with itemization in Diablo 4, such as frustrations regarding Item Power, Resistances, gems, and attribute balance, there have been enough impressive items across all equipment categories to keep players engaged and motivated to continue grinding.

In terms of loot farming in Diablo 4, the real incentive lies in obtaining six rare unique items, but only a small number of players have managed to acquire them so far. Adam Jackson, the Lead Class Designer for Diablo 4, took to Twitter to clarify where these game-changing items can be found and give fans a sneak peek at the rare Uniques currently available in the game. Given the seasonal content format in Diablo 4, it is expected that the developers will continue to introduce new seasons that expand on these rare Uniques.

What sets these Uniques apart from other items is that they are not necessarily essential for creating powerful endgame builds in Diablo 4, but possessing them certainly enhances a player's potential. Alongside The Grandfather and Harlequin Crest, Doombringer and Andariel's Visage will also be making a return to Diablo 4 as super Uniques, each with their own formidable powers when equipped. As mentioned by Jackson, any of the six Uniques can only drop for players above Level 85 and will always have an Item Power of 820.

While Blizzard may potentially increase the Item Power in the future, these Uniques will remain the ultimate objective for numerous Diablo 4 players focused on gear grinding. It might take a while for Diablo 4 to introduce a wider range of Legendary Aspects comparable to its predecessors, but the core framework remains solid. With two expansions in the pipeline for Diablo 4, there will undoubtedly be ample chances for fresh additions to this exclusive family of Uniques. Diablo 4 can be enjoyed on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
