Known as "Terror Tales of the Park," Regular Show has created a total of six of these special episodes. Each episode of "Terror Tales of the Park" consists of a series of unnerving stories shared by the main characters, although they are not considered as part of the official Regular Show storyline.
1 Regular Show Season 3, Episode 4, "Terror Tales Of The Park"
Regular Show is renowned for producing some of the creepiest episodes in Cartoon Network's repertoire. While the series boasts an array of brilliant episodes, its Halloween specials stand out as particularly memorable. James Garland Quintel, the creator of Regular Show, drew inspiration from The Simpsons' "Treehouse of Horrors" Halloween episodes and applied a similar format to Regular Show's own "Terror Tales of the Park."
The Regular Show Halloween special that stands out is "Terror Tales of the Park," from season 3, episode 4. In this episode, Mordecai, Rigby, and their fellow groundskeepers gather together to share eerie stories. The first tale, called "Creepy Doll," is a playful homage to the movie Child's Play. It revolves around Pops, the most beloved character in Regular Show, who stumbles upon his cherished childhood doll once again. However, this seemingly innocent toy suddenly becomes animate and launches a terrifying attack on him. The second story, "Death Metal Crash Pit," focuses on Muscle Man and Hi Five Ghost as they confront the vengeful spirits of a deceased hair-metal band haunting an RV.
2 Regular Show Season 4, Episode 3, "Terror Tales Of The Park 2"
The third and final tale, titled "In the House," showcases Mordecai's Halloween adventure. Disguised as a father with five pretend children, his intention is to collect a hefty amount of candy through deception. Along the way, he encounters Rigby, leading to a bizarre encounter with an enraged wizard. This sorcerer's wrath results in Rigby's transformation into a dwelling. The rest of the gang seeks refuge within the newly formed Rigby house, only to face chilling and horrifying perils akin to the infamous Evil Dead series. As the episode concludes, an epilogue reveals the lingering fear and unease experienced by all the characters due to Rigby's haunting tale. In a final shocking twist, Rigby discloses his true identity as the disguised wizard, providing one last fright for Regular Show's inaugural Halloween special.
The second Halloween special of Regular Show was titled "Terror Tales of the Park 2" and it belonged to season 4, episode 3. In this episode, the entire park gang heads towards a Halloween party but gets lost along the way. To entertain themselves, they start sharing spooky stories. Mordecai kicks off with the story named "Payback," where he is haunted by his late uncle whom he accidentally killed. Next up is Margaret narrating "Party Bus" through a speakerphone. It revolves around Mordecai, Rigby, Eileen, and Margaret getting on a party bus that mysteriously causes them to age as it progresses on its journey.
The final story in Regular Show's second Halloween special is recounted by Benson. In the episode "Wallpaper Man," Mordecai and Rigby are sprucing up their surroundings and decide to enlist the services of a wallpaper expert who, as it turns out, is a monstrous and malevolent spider. After sharing their individual tales, the main characters end up colliding with a tree near their intended destination and subsequently attend the party in the form of spirits.
3 Regular Show Season 5, Episode 8, "Terror Tales Of The Park 3"
The third Halloween special of Regular Show, season 5, episode 8, titled "Terror Tales of the Park 3," kicks off with the main characters gathering at a Halloween party. They make a bet to see who can tell the scariest story, with each participant wagering their Halloween candy. Rigby kicks off the storytelling with his tale called "Killer Bed." The story revolves around Rigby buying a bed, only to later discover that it had a horrifying past as a murderous entity.
Next up is Muscle Man, who shares his story called "Jacked-Up Jack-o-Lantern." It depicts Mordecai, Rigby, Muscle Man, and Hi-Five Ghost smashing pumpkins, accidentally destroying a terrifying scarecrow's wife along the way.
The final story is narrated by Benson and is titled "The Previous Owner." It recounts the haunting of a 200-year-old poltergeist in the house. Benson is ultimately declared the winner of the scary story contest, which is fitting considering "The Previous Owner" is widely regarded as the best story from "Terror Tales of the Park." True to the style of Regular Show's Halloween specials, the episode concludes with one final scare as Benson insists that his tale was based on true events.
4 Regular Show Season 6, Episode 4, "Terror Tales Of The Park 4"
In season 4 of Regular Show, episode 6 titled "Terror Tales of the Park 4," the gang decides to pay a visit to Muscle Man's mother on Halloween and entertain themselves with more frightful tales along the way. The first story, "The Hole," is narrated by Pop. In his tale, Pop finds himself chosen for sacrifice, thrown into a deep chasm, reminiscent of Shirley Jackson's dystopian novel, The Lottery. Benson takes the stage next, recounting a story called "Unfinished Business," where Mordecai and Rigby, who have passed away, become ghosts haunting their own home, stubbornly refusing to move on. Rigby steps up to tell the third story, titled "Scary Movie Night." This spooky tale involves Mordecai, Rigby, Eileen, and CJ being drawn into a horror film and having to fight for their survival. Eventually, the gang arrives at Muscle Man's mother's trailer, only to discover that the entire setup was a prank. "Terror Tales of the Park 4" shares similarities with The Simpsons' "Treehouse of Horrors" concept but puts a unique and dynamic spin on them.
5 Regular Show Season 7, Episode 9, "Terror Tales Of The Park 5"
The fifth Halloween special of Regular Show is widely regarded as one of its best. In Season 7, Episode 9, titled "Terror Tales of the Park 5," the show takes a slightly different approach to its storytelling. The episode begins with the gang gathering at the park's annual Halloween Party, where Benson has brought in a wish-making machine called Racki the Wishmaker. Whenever a character makes a wish, they are transported into visions and alternate realities.
The first wish belongs to Benson, and it is showcased in the segment titled "Mr. Boss Man." In this segment, Benson purchases a puppet to motivate Mordecai and Rigby, but things quickly take a dark turn when the puppet comes to life.
Pop's wish is revealed in the segment called "Werepops." In this story, the park gang finds themselves serving jury duty in a trial involving a werewolf.
Next, Hi-Five Ghost makes a wish that leads to the segment "Going Up." In this tale, he gets trapped inside an elevator while visiting Celia.
Interestingly, "Terror Tales of the Park 5" is the only Regular Show Halloween special to feature a fourth story. Rigby's wish, called "Chocolatude," takes us on a journey of Mordecai and Rigby's Halloween trick-or-treating adventure, where they come across a witch who offers them devilish chocolate.
6 Regular Show Season 8, Episode 19, "Terror Tales Of The Park 6
Regular Show underwent a significant narrative shift in its eighth season, taking the entire show to outer space. As a result, season 8, episode 19, "Terror Tales of the Park 6," takes on a science-fiction theme. The stories are told within the context of the annual Halloween party. Skips kicks off the storytelling with the first tale, "Fear Planet," in which Mordecai, Rigby, Pop, and Benson visit a planet that manifests their deepest fears. Eileen takes the reins for the second story, "King Size Candy Bars," which follows the gang as they go trick-or-treating on the Space Tree Station and stumble upon a house occupied by vampires.
Rigby concludes the series of tales with his narrative, "Alien Roommate," a hilarious parody of the Alien franchise that centers around an alien named Shannon moving in with the gang. The framing story concludes with the gang traversing a black hole, resulting in an unexpected transformation into spaghetti. This final installment of "Terror Tales of the Park" stands out for its science fiction elements while still delivering the spooky delights that made Regular Show's Halloween episodes famous.
