In Tears of the Kingdom, there is a variety of flowers that can be used for cooking. The safflina flower has the ability to provide different types of resistance, such as cold, warm, or electric, depending on its type. Warm and Cold Safflinas are particularly useful when players need to navigate through areas with extreme temperatures. However, it is important to note that cooking an Electric Safflina will not provide Link with any climate resistance.

On the other hand, consuming Electric Safflinas will provide Link with Shock Resistance. This means that if he is attacked with an electric weapon, he will not drop his own weapons. Just like other types of safflinas, Electric Safflinas have specific environmental requirements. For players in Tears of the Kingdom, it will be easier to find Electric Safflinas by searching in the southwestern region of Hyrule.

Electric Safflinas are commonly found in the vast and challenging Gerudo Desert. To ease their journey through the desert, players have the option to acquire the Sand Boots, utilize a Sand Seal, or employ a Zonai Device resembling a hoverboard.

Upon Link's initial arrival in the Gerudo Desert, they will encounter an incessant desert storm that engulfs the entire area and obscures the map. Although not obligatory for Electric Safflina-farming, players may consider clearing the Lightning Temple, also known as "Riju of the Gerudo," before venturing further into the desert.

Players are required to obtain the Camera, Hyrule Compendium, and Sensor+ from Robbie in order to be able to track Electric Safflinas. To acquire these devices, players should first speak with Josha and Robbie at Lookout Landing, which will initiate a chain of side quests that may eventually result in the completion of the Purah Pad.

In the Gerudo Desert, there are two reliable locations to search for Electric Safflinas. One can be found a short distance south of Gerudo Town, while the other is situated close to one of the Shrines of Light.

Gerudo Desert

Located at coordinates -4171, -3084, 0035, there lies a heap of bones. To reach this spot, players can employ the paraglider from the Mayatat Shrine in Gerudo Town. In close proximity to the "entrance" of the bone heap, one will encounter a Bokoblin and an Electric Lizalfos. By utilizing Majora's Mask, players can avoid engaging in combat with these adversaries. Alternatively, it is advisable to eliminate them beforehand if one intends to search for the safflinas undisturbed.

Nestled beneath the "ribcage" of the bones, one can find Electric and Warm Safflinas. This particular area is estimated to contain approximately five Electric Safflinas. Once thorough examination of this area is completed, it is recommended to continue the search elsewhere.

Karahatag Shrine

Far south of Gerudo Town lies the Karahatag Shrine, located at coordinates (-3714, -3618, 0044). Similar to the bones, players have the opportunity to discover Electric and Warm Safflinas in this vicinity. Prior to exploring this shrine, it is advisable for players to clear the desert area around it. Alternatively, they can utilize the wind currents to elevate Link above the sandstorm, enabling him to catch a glimpse of the shrine's radiant glow. By doing so, players will gain a clearer sense of which direction they must glide towards.

Electric Safflinas have several uses:

Cooking

Dyeing

To upgrade the Rubber Armor Set, players can obtain level 1-3 Shock Resistance by cooking an Electric Safflina. The duration of this effect can be prolonged by incorporating additional Electric Safflinas. Alternatively, players can combine a set of five safflinas or include them in a recipe like a Veggie Omelette (made with Bird Egg, Electric Safflina, Goat Butter, and Rock Salt).

To dye your armor, players should bring the Electric Safflinas to Kochi's Dye Shop located at coordinates (3400, -2139, 0121) in Hateno Village. These special flowers can only be used to create yellow dye. However, it's important to note that certain armor, like the Champions' Leathers, cannot be recolored.

In addition, Electric Safflinas have the ability to upgrade armor. This feature becomes available once players assist the Stable Trotters during the "Lucky Clover Gazette" side quest. To fully unlock the upgrade option, players must also help the remaining three Great Fairy Fountains found near the stables. Once all the Great Fairies have been "freed," armor can be upgraded a total of four times.

Players will need the following amount of Electric Safflinas for upgrading the Rubber Armor Set:
