The Ultimate Guide to Evolving Litwick and Lampent into Powerful Chandelure Pokémon

Discover the fiery trio of Litwick, Lampent, and Chandelure in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Uncover their evolution secrets, locations, and why Chandelure is a powerhouse Unleash its potential with the best moves

The presence of Ghostly Litwick and its evolutions, Lampent and Chandelure, has made a lasting impression on fans, with Chandelure even becoming a playable character in Pokken. These unique species have been a part of the Pokemon universe since Black/White and can now be transferred to the Gen 9 mainline games with the release of the Teal Mask DLC for Pokemon Scarlet/Violet.

In Kitakami, Scarlet/Violet trainers have the opportunity to catch Litwick. However, those without the Teal Mask will need to obtain it through trading or transferring. The Litwick-line's Ghost/Fire typing offers a diverse range of coverage, but the question remains: is this typing truly utilized to its full potential? Regardless, capturing these candle-like Pokemon is necessary for completing the Kitakami Dex.

Where to Find Litwick & Lampent (& How to Evolve Them)

Litwick can be captured at Infernal Pass and Crystal Pool in Oni Mountain. They can also be encountered in the Timeless Woods, alongside their evolved form, Lampent. The levels of Litwick and Lampent may vary depending on the progress of Scarlet/Violet players during their playthrough.

Before "The Way Home," Litwick and Lampent can be found at Infernal Pass/Crystal Pool with levels in the 20s.

Timeless Woods: 50s

After "The Way Home":Infernal Pass/Crystal Pool: 60s

In Timeless Woods: 70s, you can find a Tera Lampent located over the river at Infernal Pass. Prior to "The Way Home," its level is set at 45, whereas after "The Way Home," it increases to level 86. The Tera Lampent falls under the Grass-type category and possesses the Flash Fire Ability, rendering any Fire-type moves ineffective. Hence, utilizing Flying or Ice-type moves to lessen its strength while it is in a Terastallized state is recommended.

Ghost-type Pokemon are more noticeable during nighttime, making it easier to locate them. However, the Tera Lampent can be encountered at any time of the day.

Litwick and Lampent can be found in 2-star and 4-star Tera Raids, respectively, but exclusively in Kitakami.

How to Evolve Litwick & Lampent

To evolve Litwick into Lampent, trainers must level it up to 41 after catching it. However, Litwicks caught in the postgame or in the Timeless Woods only require one additional level to evolve. On the other hand, to evolve Lampent into Chandelure, trainers need to expose it to a Dusk Stone. These special stones can be found throughout Paldea, including one behind the Montenevera Gym and another as a Dex Reward for capturing 130 Pokemon in the Paldea Pokedex.

How to Get Chandelure without Evolving

Chandelure can be found in Tera Raids rated 5/6 stars. However, the 5-star Raids are accessible only upon completing "The Way Home," while the 6-star Raids can be unlocked either after the Academy Ace Tournament or in the postgame. To access the 6-star Raids, trainers must participate in enough Raids for Jacq to contact them regarding the black Tera Dens in Paldea, thus unlocking the 6-star Raids.

While it may appear straightforward to defeat and capture Chandelure in a Tera Raid, it typically possesses the move Will-O-Wisp. This move causes burns, decreasing opponents' Attack stat by half. Trainers utilizing Iron Hands or Azumarill, who primarily rely on physical attacks, will need to devise an alternate strategy if Chandelure inflicts a burn. Given the potential challenges in obtaining a Raid Chandelure, players may find it more advantageous to capture and evolve Lampent instead.

Is Chandelure Worth Using?

The Ultimate Guide to Evolving Litwick and Lampent into Powerful Chandelure Pokémon

Chandelure, renowned for its outstanding Special Attack and moderate Defense/Special Defense, is indeed a formidable Pokémon. Unlike slower Fire-types such as Slugma/Magcargo, Chandelure exhibits a decent Speed that enables it to potentially outpace many adversaries in battle. Its remarkable Special Attack lends itself to excelling as a special attacker rather than a physical one. Aspiring trainers keen on utilizing Chandelure should prioritize acquiring a Nature that bolsters its Special Attack or Speed, even if it means sacrificing its Attack.

Best Moves for Chandelure

To maximize Chandelure's potential, trainers should ensure it possesses at least one powerful attacking move that benefits from the Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB). Recommended moves for Chandelure include Shadow Ball and Flamethrower, or even a combination of both. However, it's important to note that Flamethrower cannot be learned through normal leveling up, necessitating the use of TM125 for trainers.

Another valuable move to consider is Energy Ball, a special Grass-type move that not only deals damage but also has the potential to lower the opponent's Special Defense upon impact. By learning Energy Ball, Chandelure gains an advantage over a number of its type weaknesses.

To further enhance Chandelure's Special Attack capabilities, utilizing the move Calm Mind is recommended. This move raises Chandelure's Special Attack and Special Defense stats by one stage during battles.

Chandelure's last move can also be a status move like Will-o-Wisp or Confuse Ray, and the move Minimize can also increase its evasiveness. Pokemon Scarlet & Violet can be played on Nintendo Switch.
