With each new expansion pack for The Sims 4 comes the addition of a new skill, and as the game's DLC library continues to expand, so too does the breadth of skills available to Sims. Among these is the Research & Debate skill, introduced in the Discover University expansion pack, which focuses on the exchange of knowledge through conversation. In this guide, players will discover how they can utilize this skill to write and publish their own research papers within the game.

How to Write and Publish a Research Paper

Gamers with a high Research & Debate skill can utilize their knowledge in more ways than just convincing roommates to clean up or encouraging Sims to go streaking. They can also write and publish research papers. However, to achieve this, a Sim must reach skill level eight in Research & Debate, which can be a time-consuming process if the skill hasn't been learned yet. Sims can increase their skill level by using the Research Archive Machine or podium at the university commons, or by practicing debate in front of a mirror at home.

At level eight of the Research & Debate skill, Sims can unlock the option to Write and Publish Research Paper on any computer. However, this feature cannot be used on the Research Archive Machine.

Unlike books, as soon as the Sim finished writing the research paper, it will be automatically published, and they will receive a single payment for it.

Earning money through research paper writing in The Sims is a bit of a gamble. While a Sim can choose any skill to write about, success is not guaranteed even if the skill has been fully mastered.
