The Ultimate Guide to Acquiring the Vanguard Armor Set in Lords of the Fallen

The Vanguard armor set is a highly practical choice in Lords of the Fallen, providing substantial protection against all damage types without compromising mobility due to its medium weight range. Obtaining the Vanguard armor set early on in the Lords of the Fallen campaign is possible. However, it can be easily overlooked due to the complex layouts of the game's various areas. To ensure you don't miss out on this armor set, here is the location guide.

Lords of the Fallen Vanguard Armor Set Location

The Exacter Dunmire at Skyrest Bridge is the exclusive seller of the complete Vanguard set. However, players can only purchase this set after they provide him with Vanguard Barros' Rosary, an item that can be found deep within the Forsaken Fen.

To obtain Vanguard Barros' Rosary, players must first defeat the Congregator of Flesh and reach the Fen waypoint in the Forsaken Fen. From there, they should continue along the main path until they reach an area with a curving tree branch near a bonfire, which is guarded by Shuja warriors. At this point, players should climb up the branch and either unlock the shortcut back to the Vestige or plant a Vestige Seed in the nearby Umbral flower bed before proceeding.

Start at the tree branch and follow the path in the video above that leads to the Umbral. This will ultimately take players to a mini-boss battle with a Mendacious Visage. Defeat the Visage, then continue to the elevated huts. Amongst them, one will contain the body of Vanguard Baross and his rosary.

Return the rosary to Exacter Dunmire, who will use it to expand his shop and offer a wide range of items, including the complete Vanguard armor set. If Dunmire's store does not update or if he does not provide special dialogue regarding the Vanguard, try resting at the Visage or restarting the game. It is important to note that the Vanguard armor set is quite expensive, so make sure to have enough Vigor to purchase the entire set at once.

The Vanguard set includes a complete suit of plate armor adorned with a luxurious fur cloak that elegantly rests on the shoulders. Although it is only marginally superior to the Dark Crusader's initial armor set, it provides considerably enhanced protection when compared to the default gear of other starting classes.
