On Thursday, October 19, 2023, the official website for the Urusei Yatsura anime production revealed three new cast members. One of them is the beloved voice actress M.A.O, famous for her role as Shion in the Tensura Slime franchise, also known as That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime in English.
Alongside the announcement of the new cast members, the official website for the Urusei Yatsura anime series also shared key visuals showcasing each new character. It remains uncertain whether this recent cast announcement will be the final one before the series' highly awaited premiere.

M.A.O and the other two recently announced actors will make their appearance in the latter part of the new Urusei Yatsura anime. The second half of the latest Urusei Yatsura anime has just announced the cast for the characters Asuka Mizunokoji, Asuka's Father, and Asuka's Mother. M.A.O, known for her role as Shion in Tensura Slime, will be voicing Asuka Mizunokoji. Toshiharu Sakurai, popular for playing Tompa in Hunter x Hunter, will be portraying Asuka's Father, while Kotono Mitsuishi, recognized as Usagi Tsukino in Sailor Moon, will be taking on the role of Asuka's Mother.
In addition to the latest cast news, the website has also started streaming a special promotional video for the anime. The video is narrated by cast member Hiroshi Kamiya, who portrays Ataru Moroboshi, the protagonist of the series. In the video, Ataru introduces all the women he loves in the series, as well as other characters whom he refers to as "others."
The second half of the anime is scheduled to debut in January 2024, with no additional information on its release date or broadcast available at the time of writing. It is anticipated that HIDIVE will continue to stream the anime series for its second half. In March 2023, HIDIVE began streaming an English dubbed version of the first half of the series. The first half originally premiered in Japan on Fuji TV's Noitamina programming block in October 2022.
Takahiro Kamei directs the series, while Masaru Yokoyama handles the composition of the music. Sumire Uesaka stars as Lum, Ataru's love interest throughout the series, alongside Kamiya.
Takahashi's original manga series was published in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine from 1978 to 1987. It gained popularity and led to the creation of numerous anime adaptations in the years that followed its initial release.
