The Master Thief of Anbar GuideInfiltrating the Winter Palace
In the opening chapter of Assassin's Creed Mirage, the game showcases a captivating storytelling element. The initial mission, "The Master Thief of Anbar," presents a visually stunning cinematic introduction to the character Basim. As he regains consciousness in an eerie and misty environment, Basim finds himself trapped in quicksand, struggling to maintain his balance.
Suddenly, an unknown entity begins to pursue him, emerging just as Basim falls onto his back. This grotesque figure examines Basim, prompting him to realize that he is, in fact, dreaming. Despite this revelation, the story continues to emphasize the close bond between Basim and Nehal, a duo of orphaned thieves. As the first mission progresses, Assassin's Creed Mirage takes an unexpected turn, providing an immersive and engaging tutorial experience.
The Master Thief of Anbar Guide
Basim's journey begins by highlighting his humble origins and early life in Baghdad. While the concept of playing as a pickpocket in an Assassin's Creed game may not be too far-fetched, players will undoubtedly experience a rush of adrenaline as they near the end of the mission. This particular mission is straightforward and beginner-friendly, allowing players to become acquainted with the basic controls and mechanics of the game.
The first objective of the mission is to follow Nehal as they both depart from Basim's residence, during which players are introduced to the game's fundamental parkour mechanics. They eventually pause on a rooftop to engage in a conversation about Basim's evident devotion to the "Hidden Ones". Positioned directly above a bustling Bazaar, this location provides an ideal opportunity for players to become acquainted with the mechanics of looting and pick-pocketing. While Assassin's Creed Mirage pays tribute to the older gameplay mechanics, pick-pocketing in this installment is entirely new and requires precision timing rather than mindless spamming as seen in previous games.
Commencing with a straightforward endeavor of snatching a pouch resting on a table, the situation swiftly escalates, leading to pilfering pouches from neighboring merchants. While perpetrating their pickpocketing escapades amidst the bustling streets of Anbar, the two thieves decide to rendezvous with their trusted larceny broker, known as Dervis. Consequently, Basim receives the assignment of absconding with a shipping ledger from a conveniently proximate harbor.
Players will become acquainted with the stealth mechanics in this area. The harbor is not heavily guarded and as Basim currently does not have any weapons, it is crucial to rely on stealth in order to complete the task swiftly. Once the first two enemies are dealt with, players should utilize their eagle vision to identify the guard holding a key. This guard can be found on the first floor of a barrack and entering it is relatively easy. However, caution must be exercised as there is a guard patrolling just outside the entrance. Therefore, players should remain concealed in tall grass and draw the guard towards Basim by using a whistle.
