I never would have imagined two years ago that The CW's Legends of Tomorrow would become one of the best television shows. However, it truly has. In its third season, the series has found its own identity and has a great balance between weekly adventures and overarching villains. This includes the redemption of Damian Darhk from his time on Arrow and the introduction of magical creatures, adding complexity to the concept of time travel. Additionally, the inclusion of Constantine has been a great addition.
The show follows a group of time-traveling outlaws, most of whom were introduced in the Arrow-verse. While the first season may not be outstanding, it lays the foundation for the meaningful friendships that define the series. If you want to skip ahead to Season 2 or even 3, I completely understand. What sets the show apart is its willingness to change storylines and its cast. If something doesn't work or a dynamic is not successful, they are not afraid to scrap it and try something new. At the same time, they also bring back what works, like Beebo, the beloved fuzzy blue savior.
Legends' third season was filled with numerous incredible episodes and memorable moments, making it a truly enjoyable experience. From the epic battle between Grodd and Barack Obama to mind-bending time loops, encounters with pirates, the introduction of Mick Rory's book, the mythical island of Themyscira, and the inclusion of John Noble, this season encapsulated the exhilarating and whimsical essence of a superhero show featuring a misfit group of time travelers. It successfully balanced these outrageous elements with deeply moving character arcs that deeply touched the audience. Ultimately, Legends of Tomorrow accomplished it all, offering a remarkable package of both thrilling fun and heartfelt emotions.

Loosely based on the comic by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred, iZombie follows the story of Liz, a medical resident whose life takes a dark turn when she becomes a zombie. Unlike in The Walking Dead, Liz still retains her human abilities and emotions, but she must regularly consume human brains to survive. She manages to secure a job at the local morgue, which provides her with a steady supply of brains. However, there's a catch - when she eats someone's brain, she temporarily gains their memories, personality, and skills. This leads Liz to uncover a series of murders committed by other morally questionable zombies. Under the guise of a psychic, Liz uses her visions to assist a local detective in solving the cases and finding purpose in her new existence.
Created by Rob Thomas and Dianne Ruggiero, the creators of Veronica Mars, iZombie is often unfairly compared to its predecessor. While there are similarities, Liz is a unique and witty blonde sleuth in her own right. Despite its dark theme of death, the first season of iZombie primarily focuses on the procedural aspects of the cases. Thankfully, these weekly cases are always entertaining thanks to McIver's consistently likable and versatile performance as she embodies the traits of the victims.

Black Lightning
January 16, 2018 marked the release of Black Lightning, featuring an extraordinary cast including Cress Williams, Christine Adams, James Remar, and Nafessa Williams. This TV-14 rated series blends the genres of superhero, action, drama, and sci-fi, offering a captivating experience. Don't miss out on the opportunity to watch Black Lightning on Netflix.
Just as I was beginning to believe that we were tired of superheroes, Black Lightning came onto the scene and shook things up. The CW's dynamic series stands out for several reasons, the most obvious being its focus on a black family and the second, that its lead character is not a teenager. However, what sets this series apart is its intelligence within the superhero genre. It effectively addresses race and politics without being overly preachy. In addition, the series made wise choices regarding the introduction of other characters' powers, and did not feel the need to resolve its main antagonist by the end of the season. Instead, it dealt with numerous minor villains throughout. The story of a vigilante-turned-principal who returns to fighting crime due to drug violence in his community is refreshing and gives Black Lightning both a grounded and relevant feel. This is a hero that you can unreservedly support. - Allison Keene
