Attention Carly Shay's fans! We regret to inform you that the iCarly revival has been discontinued after three successful seasons. A spokesperson from Paramount+ confirmed this news, stating that the series had a fantastic run, satisfying fans by bringing Carly and Freddie together. On behalf of Paramount+, we express our gratitude to the entire cast, as well as the writers, directors, producers, and crew, for their unwavering dedication, creativity, and talent.
The rebooted series premiered in June 2021, featuring an adult Carly (Miranda Cosgrove) 10 years after the original show ended. Carly is reunited with her brother, Spencer (Jerry Trainer), and longtime friend and cameraman, Freddie (Nathan Cress), as they embark on a new chapter of reviving her once-popular web show. Joining the cast are Laci Mosley as Carly's new best friend, Harper, and Jaidyn Triplett, who portrays Freddie's stepdaughter, Millicent.
Following the success of the original iCarly series, which aired from 2007 to 2012 on Nickelodeon, the reboot was ordered in 2020 and produced by Nickelodeon Studios and Awesomeness. Showrunner Ali Schouten and executive producer Miranda Cosgrove led the production team, with Trainor and Vradenburg serving as producers. Additionally, Nathan Cress made his directorial debut for the show with the season 1 episode "iCan Fix It Myself."
iCarly's revamped framing was a resounding success among fans, both old and new, as it managed to capture the original series' sentiment while allowing the characters to evolve into their adult selves. However, even the cast had reservations about revisiting their beloved legacy.
"When I was initially approached about a potential comeback, I must admit, I was skeptical. These discussions started a couple of years ago," confessed Cosgrove to Variety in June 2022. "At first, I thought, 'No, we should never do that.' I reached out to Jerry and Nathan, my original co-stars, and they shared the same sentiment. But the idea kept lingering and we couldn't help but keep discussing it."

Cosgrove observed that upon conceiving the show, they discovered that the audience of iCarly had transitioned from being children to adults. Realizing this, they decided to create the show specifically for this demographic, as they were the ones who initially adored the series. With this revelation, they gained a clear sense of direction and enthusiasm for the project.
Their instincts paid off, as the show has garnered a perfect 100 percent rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes for its three seasons. It masterfully blended nostalgia with mature humor, satisfying fans' cravings. Additionally, it fulfilled a long-awaited desire of viewers by bringing Carly and Freddie's romance to fruition after a decade of anticipation.
The duo's friendship gradually developed into a deeper connection, culminating in a season 3 finale that solidified them as a couple, ready to embark on the journey of marriage. The finale also tantalized fans with the introduction of Carly and Spencer's mysterious mother during the wedding celebration, leaving them eagerly awaiting a fourth season and desperate to catch a glimpse of her face.
"iCarly was abruptly canceled after the suspenseful cliffhanger. Fans were eagerly waiting for Carly and Spencer to address their mom, but to our disappointment, we never got a glimpse of her. The heartbreaking reality is that we will never witness the long-awaited Creddie marriage. This sentiment was expressed by a fan on Wednesday via X. Another fan passionately claimed that iCarly was the finest television show reboot, only to be canceled when it was at its peak. Yet, a third fan expressed profound disappointment, highlighting the unfairness towards the dedicated fans, beloved characters, and the hardworking crew."
Others are hopeful that Paramount+ will revive the series for a final movie or a short fourth installment to provide closure to the story. "Please give us iCarly the movie to properly conclude this universe," one person pleaded, tagging the streaming service. Another person added, "I don't understand why iCarly has been canceled. It deserves a real ending, not cliffhangers. Give us a few more episodes."
After the cancellation news broke, the iCarly writers room expressed gratitude to the fans for their unwavering support on social media. "Working on this show has been an incredible experience," they wrote on Wednesday. "Thank you all for your support and enthusiasm. I am going to miss saying, 'Oh, the fans are going to lose their minds!' almost as much as I will miss collaborating with such funny and kind individuals."
From her personal X account, Schouten added: “Best job I’ve ever had. Let’s do it again in another 10 years?”
