The newsroom drama is just getting started. After the conclusion of The Morning Show season 2 in November 2021, fans are already eager for more of the Apple TV+ series - and they're not the only ones.
Reese Witherspoon, in an interview with Extra in December 2021, shared her excitement about The Morning Show season 3. "I saw Jen Aniston last night," she said. "We were discussing [The Morning Show season 3]. We're thrilled and we genuinely enjoy working together. It's like a dream come true. We've known each other for a long time, but being able to collaborate in a significant way and have a hand in the creative process is truly wonderful."
The Legally Blonde actress didn't expect the cast to reunite for season 3 anytime soon. She mentioned that Jennifer, who is working on a movie with Adam Sandler, needs some time before joining. However, they plan to get back to filming soon after. Witherspoon and Aniston portray Bradley Jackson and Alex Levy, the news anchors who are central to the beloved drama.
In November 2021, Aniston expressed uncertainty about reprising her role as Alex. In the second season, her character faced challenges of reentering the public sphere while grieving for Mitch (portrayed by Steve Carell) and battling COVID-19. Aniston compared her hesitation to the block mothers experience after childbirth, stating, "I don't know if I could ever do that again!"
The Emmy winner hopes for a change in tone in future seasons, specifically wanting "a lot more levity" in the next installment. Showrunner Kerry Ehrin stated that the possibilities for The Morning Show are limitless, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"You have the option of projecting 10 years ahead or revisiting the past. It's a fascinating and self-contained universe," she stated in November 2021. "The timeline possibilities are endless, and the real challenge lies in finding a significant topic. These subjects are genuine, not contrived; they draw from our own experiences and have had a profound impact on us. I believe that's always the ultimate test for the show."
The highly anticipated Season 3 of The Morning Show is scheduled to premiere in the autumn. In May 2023, the series was granted an early renewal for Season 4.
