Summary
Jonathan Majors will be returning as He Who Remains in Loki season 2, expanding his role beyond Victor Timely.
The second season of Loki features the return of the entire cast, including Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Eugene Cordero. As Loki and Mobius continue their investigation, they may come across various Kang variants, who could potentially be introduced as new villains in Phase 5 of the MCU.
In Loki season 2, a villain from Phase 4 of the MCU has been confirmed to make a comeback. Following the announcement of the show's second season, which features the return of the main cast, including Tom Hiddleston as Loki and Owen Wilson as Mobius, the story will revolve around their investigation into the damage done to the Sacred Timeline and the various versions of Kang the Conqueror. Jonathan Majors will reprise his role as a new variant of Kang, Victor Timely, and potentially introduce more villainous iterations in Phase 5 of the MCU.
In a recent interview with Variety, Kevin Wright, the executive producer of Loki, revealed that Jonathan Majors will not only be portraying Victor Timely in season 2, but also returning as He Who Remains. He Who Remains was introduced in the season 1 finale as the mastermind behind the TVA and the guardian of the Sacred Timeline. Although it appeared that he was killed by Sylvie, played by Sophia Di Martino, in season 1, it has now been confirmed that he will have a role in the second season of Loki. The extent of his involvement in the upcoming season is currently unknown.
The entire cast has made a comeback, with Gugu Mbatha-Raw reprising her role as former TVA judge Ravonna Renslayer and Eugene Cordero returning as TVA functionary Casey. Majors also makes a comeback as He Who Remains, accompanied by another version of Kang, Victor Timely, a 19th-century inventor.
Will Other Kang The Conqueror Variants Appear In Loki Season 2?
The confirmation of He Who Remains' return is thrilling because it was previously believed that Majors would only be playing Victor Timely in Loki season 2 after his debut in the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Despite uncertainties surrounding Jonathan Majors' future in the MCU due to his arrest and assault allegations in March, it appears that he will have a significant role in Loki season 2, portraying multiple versions of Kang the Conqueror, the main antagonist of the Multiverse Saga. With Majors returning as different Kang variants in Loki season 2, there is potential for him to bring back the Council of Kangs introduced in Quantumania. In the mid-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Majors appeared as Kang the Conqueror, along with numerous other Kang variants such as Immortus, Rama-Tut, and a version of Marvel Comics' Scarlet Centurion. This scene hinted at Majors' involvement as various Kang variants in upcoming MCU projects, but there hasn't been any indication of his presence until now. Therefore, Loki season 2 could be the ideal platform to reintroduce these intriguing new villains if Loki and Mobius venture through time during their Kang investigation, allowing them to encounter numerous variants beyond He Who Remains and Victor Timely.
