In the original novel, The Eye of the World, Rand encounters Elayne, making her introduction in season 2 significant. However, the show primarily emphasizes the established characters, resulting in Elayne's storyline slowly gaining momentum.

The Wheel Of Time Quietly Hints At Elayne’s Ter’angreal Talent

In the world of The Wheel of Time, characters possess unique abilities known as "Talents" that showcase their exceptional skills. Although Elayne's specific Talent has yet to be revealed in the show, a subtle indication was provided in Season 2, Episode 6, titled "The Eyes of Pity." During this episode, Elayne expertly handled the a'dam, which Ryma possessed, and utilized the One Power to examine it. She astutely recognized that the a'dam, lacking any latch or seam, was a ter'angreal imbued with the One Power. The series' decision to emphasize Elayne's comprehension of ter'angreal is noteworthy, as it aligns with her Talent for creating such objects as described in the books.

When Elayne Could Unlock Her Ter'angreal Talent

Elayne discovers that she possesses a rare ability among channelers - the power to create ter’angreal. This exceptional Talent is a result of her deep understanding of how these objects function. Interestingly, Elayne's revelation of her Talent occurred while she was examining "The Eyes of Pity," specifically the a'dam. By closely studying its inner workings, Elayne unveiled the secrets of the a'dam in The Fires of Heaven, Book 5. Armed with this knowledge, she successfully reproduced the ter’angreal, ultimately crafting her own version of the a'dam. Later on, she skillfully applied her Talent to not only replicate various ter’angreal but also to construct entirely new designs.

If the show sticks to the books' timeline, Elayne's Talent might not be introduced until season 4 or 5 since the events of The Fires of Heaven are still a long way off, even though season 3 is adapting The Shadows Rising. However, to have a more immediate impact on the story, it would be logical for Elayne's special power to manifest earlier. Thankfully, The Wheel of Time can easily make that happen by using Elayne's brief encounter with the ter'angreal in Ryma's home as a justification for her significant self-discovery.
