Check out the brand-new poster for season 2 of The Wheel of Time, the series based on Robert Jordan's fantasy novels. Premiering on Prime Video in November 2021, it centers around Moiraine, an Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah, as she searches for the reincarnation of the Dragon Reborn among five villagers. Prime Video has now released the official poster for the upcoming season 2. Take a look below:
The image depicts the reunion of the main cast, gathering together to brace themselves for a decisive confrontation against The Dark One, the malevolent entity destined to be either vanquished or allied with by the chosen savior known as the Dragon Reborn. Additionally, Prime Video has tantalizingly hinted at the imminent release of a potential trailer for the upcoming season, possibly scheduled for the following week.
Why The Wheel of Time Season 2 Cast Looks a Little Different
The main cast of The Wheel of Time is set to return in the new season, as shown in the poster. Alongside Rosamund Pike and Daniel Henney, who play the roles of al'Lan Mandragoran and her Warder, the villagers from season 1 will also be coming back. The poster features Marcus Rutherford as Perrin Aybara, Madeleine Madden as Egwene al'Vere, and Josha Stradowski as Rand al'Thor.
However, there is a noticeable change in the character of Mat Cauthon, the village gambler. Season 1 actor Barney Harris has been replaced by Dónal Finn. The recasting of Harris has sparked speculation, although no official reasons have been confirmed.
Given the enduring popularity of The Wheel of Time, it is highly likely that the current cast will remain in place for an extended period. Season 2 was already renewed in May 2021, well before the show's initial release, and season 3 received the green light a year ago in July 2022. Prime Video's unwavering faith in the series, evidenced by its impressive viewership, suggests that it will enjoy numerous renewals in the future.
