Why Satoru Gojo may return to the Jujutsu Kaisen manga

The Jujutsu Sorcerers faced a significant setback with Satoru Gojo's defeat, considering he served as their most formidable combatant. After Sukuna's triumph over the mightiest sorcerer, the curse's ruler embarked on his metamorphosis to reclaim his original form from the Heian period. However, in contrast to the 15-fingered Sukuna that Yuji confronted previously, this incarnation of Ryomen Sukuna possessed all 20 fingers, rendering him exponentially more powerful.

Therefore, there was no way that characters such as Yuji Itadori, Maki Zenin, Yuta Okkotsu, and Hakari Kinji would possess the ability to defeat him. What's even more dismal is that when all these aforementioned characters are combined, their collective strength would still be considerably inferior to that of Gojo himself. The sole glimmer of hope for these individuals to triumph over Sukuna lies in Yuji acquiring a power-up akin to Sukuna's immense power.

Gojo had previously informed Yuji that he may eventually acquire the ability to wield Sukuna's powers as his own. With their shared physical form, the possibility of this occurrence existed. If Yuji can find a way to extract Sukuna's powers, there is hope for them. Otherwise, the story will solely rely on Satoru Gojo.

Throughout the Jujutsu Kaisen series, references to Buddha have been made, with one recent example involving lotuses. According to mythology, Gautam Buddha took seven steps towards the north during his rebirth, and wherever he stepped, a lotus blossomed.

In Gojo's afterlife scene, the choice was presented to the strongest sorcerer - to either be reborn anew or remain unchanged. It is highly likely that he will opt for rebirth. This possibility could also have been hinted at by Mangaka Gege Akutami through the depiction of seven lotuses in the scene.

In support of the theory, another clue revolves around the selfless act of Hajime Kashimo. Only two characters, Shoko Ieiri and Yuta Okkotsu, possess the ability to utilize the Reversed Cursed Technique for healing purposes. It's worth noting that both characters have been absent since the demise of Gojo. Therefore, it is highly probable that Kashimo is diverting Sukuna's attention, allowing the two sorcerers to tend to Gojo's wounds.

One clue supporting the theory is the meaning of Hajime Kashimo's name when translated to "dear purple cloud." In Buddhism, it is believed that Amida Buddha arrives on a purple cloud when someone passes away. Therefore, Kashimo's appearance on the battlefield immediately after Gojo's death could be seen as a hint towards this idea.

Considering this, it is highly unlikely that the anime will bring Gojo back into the story without him making a sacrifice. It is possible that he may be compelled to relinquish one of his Six Eyes as part of a Bounding Vow.

As a result, the efficiency of Gojo's Limitless ability would be compromised, leading to his potential decline. Consequently, if Gojo were to make a comeback, fans might perceive him as weaker than his previous state. Consequently, it is probable that fans would have the chance to observe Gojo collaborating with his students in a battle against Sukuna.
