Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ken Urker started their relationship as pen pals. After watching the 2017 HBO documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest, Urker sent Blanchard a "letter of support" while she was in prison. The two stayed in contact as Blanchard served her sentence and even shared a kiss when he visited her behind bars. Blanchard had been incarcerated for eight years due to her involvement in the 2015 murder of her mother, Clauddine "Dee Dee" Blanchard.

"He shared a funny story and then, unexpectedly, he leaned in and kissed me within the first 30 minutes," she told E! News in 2019. "It was the most wonderful kiss of my life - so passionate. I was surprised and said, 'I didn't know you felt that way about me,' to which he replied, 'I've liked you for a while.' I confessed, 'I've liked you for a while too.'"

Urker proposed in October 2018 while Gypsy was still in prison, but they eventually went their separate ways the following year. Gypsy later married Ryan Scott Anderson in a prison ceremony in 2022, but the marriage ended in divorce after less than two years.

In April 2024, Gypsy confirmed that she and Urker had rekindled their romance.

After Urker initially wrote Gypsy, the pair continued to correspond. The duo ultimately met when he visited her in prison and they shared a kiss.

October 2018

Urker proposed to Gypsy during a prison visit — and she said yes.

"We discussed the idea and felt confident about it," she shared with E! News in 2019. "During our visit in October, he expressed his love for me and asked for my hand in marriage. I happily said yes."

Urker presented Gypsy with a silver band, which unfortunately got taken away. However, he later replaced it with a new one.

August 2019

Gypsy shared her thoughts on starting a family with her partner. She mentioned that they do not plan to wait long after she is out. They want to have some time for themselves first, including a big wedding ceremony, a honeymoon, and quality time together before focusing on starting a family.

When asked how many children she would like to have, Gypsy mentioned that she is considering having two or three. She explained that growing up as an only child without a relationship with her half-siblings, she values the idea of her child having a sibling and experiencing that special bond.

Gypsy mentioned that the couple communicates openly and resolves their issues without fighting. She described him as understanding, supportive, and easy to talk to. Unlike some people, he doesn't blame her for everything and is sensitive to her emotions, which are heightened due to her situation in prison.

In the same month, it was reported that Gypsy and Urker had split up. Although they later got back together, their relationship didn't last long. By June 2022, Gypsy had married Anderson.

June 2022

Two weeks before Gypsy walked down the aisle with Anderson, she made a phone call to Urker.

In April 2024, she shared with We magazine about a conversation she had with Ken just before her wedding. She mentioned that despite always having feelings for Ken, she chose to prioritize her marriage and put those emotions aside. The topic of Ken has been a recurring issue in her relationship, but she made it clear that she did not leave her husband for Ken. It was more of a realization that there were still lingering feelings between them.

Days after Gypsy announced her breakup with Anderson, she and Urker decided to get matching husky tattoos. Despite this, Urker's mom, Raina Williams, clarified to People that they were not getting back together. Williams mentioned that Urker was simply being a supportive friend.

In April 2024, Williams expressed her thoughts on Gypsy, stating that she believes Gypsy is a kind girl who is learning from her mistakes. She cares deeply for Gypsy and hopes for positive things to come her way.

Later that month, Gypsy revealed that she and Urker had reignited their romance. She shared with TMZ, "After reconnecting earlier this month, we realized that our love for each other is simply undeniable, and life is too short to not take a chance." Gypsy expressed that their shared history provided a strong foundation for a fresh start, and they were now in a happy and committed relationship. Despite knowing that challenges lie ahead, they were looking forward to what the future holds.

The news outlet also published photos of Gypsy and Urker showing affection towards each other at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

May 2024

Gypsy informed Entertainment Tonight in May 2024 that Urker would be moving to Louisiana to be nearer to her.

She mentioned that she would be open to getting married again. She expressed, "I've always considered Ken my soulmate. However, I want to take things slowly and not rush into anything. I prefer not to have high expectations or make things too serious. We are simply enjoying our time together and looking forward to what lies ahead."
