A live-action Spider-Man movie featuring Miles Morales is reportedly in development at Sony, fulfilling a long-awaited wish for fans.
Tom Holland's Spider-Man will be continuing, but fans have long-awaited the Miles Morales project as a beloved alternative version. Although the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike and the upcoming release of "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" are in the works, production for both live-action projects may be delayed, leaving fans in anticipation.
Sony is reportedly developing a live-action Spider-Man film featuring Miles Morales, fulfilling the desires of fans who have long requested this. Throughout the years, the original Spider-Man has made numerous appearances in live-action projects, notably portrayed by three different actors across three different franchises. Tobey Maguire's original Spider-Man trilogy has stood the test of time since the early 2000s, while Andrew Garfield's portrayal has garnered significant acclaim in recent years. The most recent installment in Tom Holland's Spider-Man trilogy showcased all three versions of the character, resulting in a victorious achievement at the box office.
While fans eagerly await Holland's return as Spider-Man, Spider-Man 4 is expected to take longer than anticipated. However, there seems to be another exciting project on the horizon. According to reliable source Daniel Richtman, Sony is reportedly working on a live-action film focused on the beloved character Miles Morales. This development aligns with previous statements made by producers Amy Pascal and Avi Arad in May, where they also hinted at a Spider-Woman project in the works.
Fans have long been eagerly anticipating the news of a live-action adaptation featuring Miles Morales, a character who was introduced in 2011 and has gained popularity in the Marvel Comics universe. While Miles has yet to be seen in live action, he has captured the public's attention through the successful animated Spider-Verse film franchise. The latest installment, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, will soon be available on Netflix. Additionally, Miles has had a significant presence in the Insomniac Spider-Man game series, even starring in his own standalone installment.
However, fans will have to wait patiently for the live-action Miles Morales movie, partly due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. The release of the third installment, Beyond the Spider-Verse, is also far from imminent. Fortunately, there is a silver lining. The Spider-Verse short film recently received an official synopsis and may be released to the general audience soon. This could serve as a satisfying stopgap for fans while other Spider-Man content is still being developed.
The Spider-Man franchise is mostly currently available for streaming on Netflix, with Across the Spider-Verse hitting the platform on October 31.
