Get ready to start your engines because a third season of The Lincoln Lawyer is gearing up. The Netflix original legal drama concluded season 2 on August 3 with an exciting twist-filled finale to a complex court case, leaving viewers satisfied and earning the series a spot on Netflix's top 10 chart. The success of season 2 led to a swift renewal for season 3, bringing a sigh of relief to fans who were worried about Netflix's habit of canceling beloved shows.
The Lincoln Lawyer follows the life and career of Mickey Haller, a criminal defense attorney who works out of his trusty Lincoln Town Car. Originally a novel series penned by Michael Connelly, the story was first adapted into a feature film in 2011 starring Matthew McConaughey. The Netflix series is the newest adaptation, with each season closely mirroring one of the novels, though the order of events may differ from the original series. As hinted in the thrilling finale of season 2, season 3 will draw inspiration from the fourth novel in the series, The Gods of Guilt.
The Lincoln Lawyer depicts the story of Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), a lawyer facing hard times. Following the murder of the leading attorney responsible for a thriving law practice, Haller unexpectedly inherits the entirety of the firm, including its clientele. Notably, Haller operates mostly out of his Lincoln town car, which is how he comes to be known as The Lincoln Lawyer.
The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 does not have a confirmed release date yet. However, it is always beneficial to familiarize oneself with the cast, considering the impressive skills of the numerous talented actors involved.
Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Mickey Haller

Mexican actor Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, known for his role as Mickey Haller, is back in action. At the end of season 2, Mickey found himself in a highly emotional situation. The season-long case he had been working on didn't yield a clear verdict, leaving justice unserved. Despite successfully proving Lisa Trammell's innocence in the murder of Mitchell Bondurant, the true identity of the killer remains a mystery.
However, Mickey doesn't see it as his responsibility to uncover the truth. His focus quickly shifts to a new case, one that hits close to home. In the season 2 finale, he discovers the body of his former client, Giselle Dallinger, also known as Gloria Dayton or Glory Days. Julian La Cosse, Gloria's best friend and the accused murderer, had specifically reached out to Mickey for help. As Mickey embarks on his next case in season 3, he must skillfully navigate the details while grappling with the realization that his involvement may have contributed to Gloria's demise.
Manuel Garcia-Rulfo possesses an impressive and diverse professional background in both English and Spanish-language productions. While his prominent role as the lead in The Lincoln Lawyer stands out in his TV career, he has previously delved into the realm of legal drama with his recurring character, Gabriel Ortega, in Goliath, alongside Billy Bob Thornton. Notably, his portrayal of Narciso Menendez in From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, the television adaptation of Robert Rodriguez's cult classic film, further highlights his exceptional television accomplishments.
In the realm of feature films, Manuel is renowned for his outstanding performance in the 2016 Western Action film, The Magnificent Seven. This film serves as a remarkable remake of the classic 1960 movie of the same name, which itself reimagined Akira Kurosawa's acclaimed 1954 film, Seven Samurai. Moreover, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo's portrayal of the charismatic salesman, Biniamino Marquez, in Murder on the Orient Express received high praise for his contribution to the film's strong ensemble cast.
Becki Newton as Lorna Crane

Mickey and Lorna, both of whom were previously married and divorced, maintain a close professional relationship. Lorna serves as Mickey's paralegal and office manager, even though Mickey primarily conducts his work from the backseat of his Lincoln, as the series suggests. Despite their history, they harbor no ill feelings towards each other and maintain a mutual respect. In fact, Lorna is currently in a relationship with Cisco, Mickey's main investigator.
Becki Newton, an American actress, earned recognition for her portrayal of the fashionable and self-centered assistant Amanda Tanen in the popular TV series Ugly Betty. Known for her impeccable comedic timing, Newton has also appeared in various sitcoms such as The Goodwin Games, How I Met Your Mother, and Divorce.
Angus Sampson as Dennis 'Cisco' Wojciechowski
Cisco, Mickey's investigator, possesses a unique set of skills acquired from his experience on both sides of the law. Despite being infatuated with his ex-wife, Cisco efficiently handles complex legal paperwork fueled by nothing but a donut. His past as a former member of a biker gang grants him valuable insights that Mickey could never obtain on his own.
Actor Angus Sampson, much like his character, has an impressive and diverse background. With over 100 IMDb credits, Sampson has worked as a writer, director, producer, and actor. Notable among his film roles is his portrayal of supernatural investigator Tucker Croft in the Insidious franchise. Having first appeared in the original 2010 film as the deadpan, much-needed source of comic relief, Sampson has continued to be a part of every installment. On the television side, he has appeared in numerous shows, but is most recognized for his portrayal of Bear Gerhardt in Season 2 of Fargo.
Jazz Raycole as Izzy Letts

Izzy Letts, a valuable member of Mickey's team, initially became acquainted with him as a client due to their shared struggles with painkiller addiction. While she aspires to open her own dance studio, there are numerous potential paths her character may take in the third season. Given the imminent threat posed by Alex Grant, portrayed by Michael Goorjian, Izzy could potentially assume a more significant role in the upcoming season. Alternatively, she may find her happy ending. Regardless, the audience's desire for greater screen time with Izzy is evident.
Similar to her character, Jazz Raycole has a background in dance, being raised in a family that owned a dance studio. With an extensive TV career spanning over two decades, her early portrayal of Claire Kyle on the sitcom My Wife and Kids during its inaugural season remains her most notable role. Additionally, she made a memorable albeit brief appearance as Stanley's daughter in The Office.
Yaya DaCosta as Andrea Freemann

In season 2, Andrea brought a fresh and determined presence as she went head-to-head with Mickey in the courtroom. Up until this point, Andrea had never lost a case to him. Having observed Mickey in action on several occasions, she knew both his strengths and weaknesses, which she cleverly exploited by inundating him with distracting paperwork and presenting unexpected evidence that completely changed his strategy. To make matters worse for Mickey, Andrea happened to be close friends with Maggie, his first ex-wife, which gave her valuable inside knowledge, whether intentional or not.
Yaya DaCosta is just as impressive in real life as she is on-screen. She gained recognition in the television world as the runner-up in cycle 3 of America's Next Top Model. Despite not winning, she successfully built a modeling career, collaborating with renowned brands like Garnier Fructis, Sephora, and Tom Ford. Later, she ventured into acting, making appearances in popular shows such as Chicago Med, House, and Ugly Betty (co-starring with Becki Newton for the second time). Yaya has an extensive filmography, but her standout performance as the iconic Whitney Houston in the Lifetime TV film Whitney, which marked Angela Bassett's directorial debut, earned her critical acclaim.
Will Neve Campbell Be Returning for Season 3 of The Lincoln Lawyer?
Image via Netflix
Neve Campbell, who portrays Maggie McPherson, Mickey's first ex-wife and a criminal prosecutor, is unlikely to appear in season 3 of The Lincoln Lawyer. Although there has been no official statement from Campbell, several reasons could explain her absence.
The most plausible reason for Maggie's absence is that she does not feature in the novel on which the season is based. The fourth installment in the series, The Gods of Guilt, delves into a case that holds a particularly personal significance for Mickey. While Maggie's relevance to the current unfolding story is limited, she does make a comeback in later novels, suggesting that her departure may not be permanent. However, the show's writers have been known to take creative liberties in adapting the original story for the series, so it is possible that she could have a minor role.
Her absence may be attributed to a scheduling conflict, possibly caused by her involvement in the Peacock video game adaptation series Twisted Metal. While there has been no official announcement about the renewal of the series for a second season, it is plausible that Campbell is occupied with that project. Furthermore, Campbell has taken on the role of executive producer for the documentary Swan Song, and depending on the timing of filming, her producer responsibilities could have clashed with The Lincoln Lawyer schedule.
Irrespective of the reason behind her absence in season 3, it is worth noting that Maggie plays a crucial role in future novels and Mickey's ultimate endgame. Hence, fans can hopefully anticipate her return.
