Holding only the top spot away from Enji's ultimate dream was the renowned All Might.

Endeavor’s Obsession

As Endeavor's power grew, he became acutely aware of the vast and insurmountable gap between him and All Might. Determined to surpass his rival, he became increasingly fixated on relentlessly pursuing his goal. However, coming to terms with his inability to defeat All Might, Endeavor devised a new strategy – having a child who could fulfill his dream in his place. In order to achieve this, he entered a marriage with Rei Himura, seeking to acquire her ice quirk. This union would pave the way for their child to inherit both his and Rei's quirks, thus achieving a harmonious equilibrium.

During a peculiar marriage, Endeavor developed genuine emotions for Rei, resulting in a happy and harmonious union. Their firstborn, Toya, inherited only Endeavor's unique ability, but his own quirk proved to be much more powerful. With grand hopes of training Toya to become a hero, Endeavor faced disappointment when his child inherited Rei's ability to endure the cold, rather than his own resistance to heat. This unfortunate twist made Toya ill-matched for his quirk, often resulting in burns.

Considering Toya a failure, Endeavor's relentless pursuit of the perfect child intensified, leading him to cast aside Toya. After initially sparking Toya's ambition to become the number one hero, Endeavor cruelly urged him to abandon his dreams. Subsequently, Endeavor went on to have several other children until the arrival of Shoto, who inherited both his and Rei's quirks. However, this marked a time of family division for Endeavor as his actions caused his children to despise him. Moreover, his actions were the catalyst for the emergence of Dabi, formerly known as Toya, who sought vengeance and to strip Endeavor of everything he held dear.

Endeavor’s Reform Arc

During the Hideout Raid Arc's conclusion, All Might is compelled to retire following a fierce battle against All For One. With his retirement, Endeavor assumes the position of the number one hero, yet this ascent leaves him feeling insulted and leads to numerous enraged outbursts.

However, after claiming the top spot, Endeavor experiences a change of heart. He realizes that being number one holds little significance if his family remains divided. As a result, he actively strives to become a better hero and father. Along this journey, Endeavor faces various obstacles that shed light on the extensive damage he has caused within his family. One particularly difficult obstacle manifests in the form of Dabi, a former member of the League of Villains who is revealed to be Toya seeking vengeance. Dabi meticulously plotted Endeavor's downfall, sparing no expense. In a shocking turn of events, Dabi broadcasts a live video, exposing the abuse he suffered as a child at the hands of his father. This revelation further plunges an already chaotic hero society into disarray, thanks to the League of Villains' involvement.

Endeavor’s Current Status

Endeavor, as a hero, has come a long way. Initially consumed by an intense desire to be the number one hero, he has now become much more composed and shows a genuine concern for his family. Currently, Endeavor is confronting his past as he battles Dabi in the Final War Arc. While the future of his family remains uncertain, Endeavor has chosen to take responsibility for his actions and face the consequences, regardless of what they may be.
