In Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 236, Gojo Satoru meets a tragic end in a fierce battle against Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Curses. After the battle, Gojo finds himself in a different realm where he reunites with his best friend Suguru Geto and is then faced with a decision to go North or South. The chapter ends with Gojo being cleaved in half above the waist, sparking speculation about his potential return after a teaser from Gege Akutami, hinting that although Gojo may return, he won't be the same.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Gojo Satoru could return, but not without consequence
Gege Akutami, the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen, started off 2024 by sharing new illustrations of Gojo and Sukuna to promote the upcoming release of volume 25 of the manga. These illustrations are set to be featured in two major newspapers, ‘Asahi Shimbun’ and ‘Yomiuri Shimbun’. Needless to say, fans of the series couldn't be happier about this exciting news.
Return of the strongest sorcerer?
A special promotional video was unveiled on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. It was aired on Shonen Jump's official YouTube channel to promote the newly released volume 25. The video highlighted the intense battle between Satoru Gojo and Ryomen Sukuna, which is a major feature of the latest manga volume.

However, an intriguing detail in the Jujutsu Kaisen PV sparked speculation about the potential return of Gojo Satoru. A Japanese phrase that roughly translates to “full resurrection” caught the attention of viewers, leading to the belief that the Six Eyes user might make a comeback.
Furthermore, it appeared that there were chains wrapped around his eyes. Traditionally, the presence of chains suggests the use of Binding Vows. One plausible theory that could be constructed from this clue is that Gojo, on the brink of death, made a Binding Vow to relinquish his Six Eyes and vision in order to survive. As of now, it is speculated that Shoko Ieiri is still alive and may potentially arrive at the same location just in time to heal him.
In essence, Gojo would be required to sacrifice his Six Eyes and relinquish the title of "Strongest Sorcerer". The power of his Six Eyes has been demonstrated in Jujutsu Kaisen, and given that it is a rare and extraordinary phenomenon, it holds immense value. Hence, in order to make a comeback, Gojo would essentially be weakened.
What else could "full resurrection” mean?

On the other side, the concept of "full resurrection" may also be connected to Ryomen Sukuna. Fans of the manga will know that during the later part of the Culling Games, Sukuna's patience pays off as he takes over Megumi Fushiguro's body. After doing so, he quickly defeats Yuji Itadori, Hana Kurusu (Angel), and Maki Zenin before escaping. This marks the beginning of Sukuna's quest to regain his original form from the Heian Period, where he appeared as a demon with four arms and two faces. In the meantime, he inhabits the body of his new host, Megumi.
So, in this case, "full resurrection” could mean a full revival for the King of Curses, i.e., from Megumi Fushiguro to his true demonic form.
Final Thoughts
The highly anticipated battle between Gojo Satoru and Ryomen Sukuna has Jujutsu Kaisen fans eagerly awaiting season 3. With animation powerhouse MAPPA at the helm, the excitement for this epic showdown is at an all-time high.
With their history of success, the upcoming event is sure to be nothing short of extraordinary. Fans can eagerly anticipate every detail that emerges in the meantime. The teaser may hint at either Gojo's return or Sukuna's rebirth - only time will tell.
Editor's P/S
As a Gen Z netizen, I am thrilled about the possibility of Gojo's return in Jujutsu Kaisen. Gojo is one of the most beloved characters in the series, and his death in chapter 236 was a huge shock to fans. The fact that Gege Akutami is teasing his potential return has given us all hope that we haven't seen the last of the strongest sorcerer.
However, I also understand that Gojo's return may not be a simple matter. The teaser suggests that he may not be the same if he does come back, and I'm curious to see how this will affect his character and the story as a whole. I trust Gege Akutami to deliver a satisfying conclusion to this arc, and I can't wait to see what happens next in Jujutsu Kaisen.
