The House of Usher Star Draws Inspiration from The Incredibles for Her Character

Kate Siegel, one of the stars of Netflix's The Fall of the House of Usher, drew inspiration from a specific Incredibles character to shape her powerful performance in the show Discover how this talented actress channeled her inner superhero in this thrilling series

One of the lead actors in Netflix's "The Fall of the House of Usher" has disclosed the Incredibles character that influenced her performance. Writer and director Mike Flanagan timely launched his newest Netflix horror mini-series for the Halloween season.

In The Fall of the House of Usher, the downfall of a wealthy family takes center stage as they navigate the treacherous waters of a corrupt pharmaceutical empire worth billions.

Although the characters in Fall of the House of Usher span across various backgrounds, one member of the cast recently unveiled the inspiration behind her portrayal - a fictional character.

Kate Siegel channeled her inner Incredibles character

Siegel plays Camille L’Espanaye, one of Roderick Usher’s illegitimate children and the Usher family PR manager.

Camille, a cunning and calculating individual, manipulates those around her to advance her own agenda. Interestingly, the inspiration for her character comes from the well-known animated character Mirage from The Incredibles. In a Twitter video, Siegel, the creator, revealed, "Camille is essentially Mirage. As a young girl, Mirage was like my Jessica Rabbit, the epitome of beauty. She is the one who deceives Mr. Incredible into going to Syndrome's island." In this way, Siegel shatters childhood illusions by exposing Camille as a mere representation of Mirage.

Siegel's inspiration for Camille, a character based on a supervillain's assistant, is fitting considering her role as a spin doctor and the one responsible for covering up the crimes her family's company commits on a regular basis.

Mirage's House of Usher character embodies coldness, calculation, and ruthlessness, making it fitting for Siegel to tap into those qualities.
