Formerly a Special Grade Sorcerer, Suguru was able to rival the strength of Satoru Gojo during their time at Tokyo Jujutsu High. However, Suguru's path took a dark turn following the death of Riko Amanai, the chosen candidate as the Star Plasma Vessel. This tragic event, along with other factors, led him to believe that non-sorcerers were responsible for the existence of curses, motivating him to eradicate them.

Suguru's exceptional strength in Jujutsu Kaisen can be attributed to his unique ability: Cursed Spirit Manipulation. With a vast collection of curses of varying strengths, Suguru could adapt his fighting style to any situation or opponent. This versatility, along with his reputation as a student, earned him high regard among other sorcerers. Upon his defection, Suguru's arsenal of curses expanded further, cementing his position as a formidable enemy for sorcerers striving to hinder his ambitions.

What Is Cursed Spirit Manipulation?

In essence, Suguru possessed the ability of Cursed Spirit Manipulation, which enabled him to capture and control curses that he exorcised, as long as there was a noticeable difference in strength between him and the curse. Instead of simply getting rid of curses, Suguru could defeat them in battle and collect them in small spheres. These spheres were then consumed and stored in his body, allowing him to call upon them when needed. By consuming the curses orally, Suguru gained complete authority over them, making them submit to his will when summoned.

Defeating the curses in battle provided Suguru with a good understanding of their powers and limitations. This gave him the ability to gather a wide range of curses that he could summon based on the situation he faced. The Curses In Suguru's Arsenal

When perceived by others, the energy of a practitioner of Cursed Spirit Manipulation was noted to be distinct from that of other jujutsu sorcerers. This was due to the curses stored within their body. During combat, he had the option to strategically target an opponent's vulnerabilities with powerful curses for quick victories, or overwhelm them with numerous weaker curses as needed. Even as a student, Suguru possessed a vast arsenal of potent curses that he could readily employ in battle.

Because of this, he achieved the prestigious rank of Special Grade Sorcerer while still in school at Tokyo Jujutsu High. Later on, while posing as the head of a Buddhist Temple, Suguru acquired even more curses by aiding individuals burdened with cursed spirits. He eventually released and unleashed these curses during events like the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons in Kyoto and Shinjuku.

At his disposal, Suguru had a range of curses, including a powerful Rainbow Dragon with impenetrable skin that could crush its prey with its jaws. He also possessed a flying curse resembling a stingray that allowed him to take to the skies whenever needed. Additionally, Suguru had curses for tracking targets, performing surveillance, acting as decoys, and capturing individuals when necessary. Notably, he controlled a Special Grade Cursed Spirit called Tamamo-no-Mae Incarnate, a vengeful spirit based on Japanese mythology.

During his battle with Toji Fushiguro in the Star Plasma Vessel Escort Mission, Suguru showcased the Kuchisake-Onna curse. This curse summoned an imaginary vengeful spirit, whose Innate Domain enforced a non-violence vow until her question was answered. If unsatisfied with the response, the spirit would manifest numerous scissors to harm the target. Lastly, Suguru had the ability to combine all his curses with the Maximum technique of Cursed Spirit Manipulation, termed Maximum: Uzumaki. This technique unleashed a highly concentrated blast of cursed energy. Unfortunately, Suguru utilized this technique against Yuta Okkotsu but was ultimately defeated by him and the Special Grade Cursed Spirit, Rika Orimoto.
