The Golden Bachelor engaged couple Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist will be married in a live televised wedding on Thursday, January 4, and Theresa is now revealing that the nuptials might not have happened at all if not for her daughter, Jen. Gerry, a 72-year-old retired restaurateur from Hudson, Indiana, and Theresa, a 70-year-old financial services professional from Shrewsbury, New Jersey, got engaged during The Golden Bachelor season finale, after falling in love on the show. From their first date in which they danced with a flash mob to Journey's 'Don't Stop Believin'' to their meaningful Fantasy Suite date, they built a strong connection based on love and hope.

The Role of Family
In an interview with People, Theresa shared that her daughter, Jen, has been 'a lifesaver' during their wedding planning. She explained, 'There's so many decisions that had to be made, and in some instances, she would get the vision board together for me or she would get ideas of dresses and veils and rings.' Theresa said that by mid-December, there were 'very few decisions left to be made.' She gushed, 'She just keeps feeding me great things, and I’m saying, Yeah, that, that, that.' Seriously – I don’t know if there would be a wedding if she wasn’t involved.' Gerry revealed that his and Theresa's children and grandchildren will all be involved in the wedding, including his daughters, Angie and Jenny, his granddaughters, Payton and Charlee, Theresa's daughter, Jen, and son, Tommy, and her six grandsons. He added, 'There's a spot for every family member in the wedding party ... We wouldn't have it any other way.' Theresa's daughter Jen's birthday is also January 4, and Theresa shared that her daughter feels 'incredible' about celebrating the Golden Wedding on her birthday. She said, 'It’s the biggest gift for her. She fell in love with Gerry.' Gerry and Theresa's Golden Wedding sounds as though it will be a spectacular event celebrating not only their love for each other, but the coming together of their two families. Gerry's sons-in-law will be his best men, while Jen will be Theresa's maid of honor. Theresa also revealed that she wanted to have her older sisters as flower girls. During The Golden Bachelor, Gerry and Theresa emphasized that family is very important to both of them, so it's perfect that their children and grandchildren are so involved in their wedding. It's especially admirable that Theresa's daughter has put so much effort into making her mother's wedding the most special day.
