With the recent release of Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), the gaming community has been abuzz with anticipation and concern. One prominent figure sharing their thoughts on the new version is popular Twitch streamer Shroud, who recently voiced some worries about the game's future.

Since its launch in 2012, CS:GO has solidified its position as a key player in the FPS genre. Its appeal lies in its fast-paced gameplay, strategic complexity, and intense multiplayer experience. Over the years, the game has received various updates and improvements, including changes to weapon balance, map designs, and the matchmaking system. Surprisingly, even after more than a decade since its release, CS:GO continues to break its own player records. When news of Counter-Strike 2, an upgraded version of CS:GO running on Valve's new Source 2 engine, hit the scene, the player count for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive once again soared.

On the day that Counter-Strike 2 was released, it attracted an astounding 1.3 million players, which is a noteworthy achievement. However, Michael "Shroud" Grzesiek, a former professional CS:GO player, appeared to be unimpressed by the game. In a recent stream, he expressed his concerns about the smoke effect in Counter-Strike 2, suggesting that it should be eliminated from the game. Shroud further raised his apprehension, stating that he believes Counter-Strike might eventually decline and even "die" with the introduction of this new game. His teammates held a diverging opinion, accusing him of excessive negativity, but Shroud remained determined in his viewpoint.

Whether Shroud's prediction will come true remains to be seen. However, the launch strategy for Counter-Strike 2 has received significant criticism primarily due to the absence of key features like Steam Workshop maps and community-created content. Unfortunately, these elements are unlikely to return due to differences in the game's engine.

Furthermore, the sudden removal of all Counter-Strike: Global Offensive achievements has disappointed many players, particularly those who had diligently earned them. The 167 achievements from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive have been replaced by a single achievement in Counter-Strike 2 titled "A New Beginning." Concerns about hacking and cheating have also been voiced by players, although it is important to note that any bans in CS:GO will carry over to Counter-Strike 2. Additionally, Valve has introduced a new, more robust anti-cheat system called VAC Live, which aims to address these concerns.

Counter-Strike 2 is now available on PC.
