Director Declan Lowney has provided a positive update on the potential return of Ted Lasso. Despite uncertainty surrounding the show's future, Lowney revealed that the production of season 3 had a hopeful atmosphere, suggesting that it is merely "the end for now" rather than a definitive conclusion. He expressed belief that the show could make a comeback sooner than anticipated.

Everybody knew it was the end, but for now, it's also a temporary end. (Laughs.) It will take two or three years before anything happens - if anything happens at all. So, let's make an effort to bring all these stories to a satisfying conclusion. I'm trying to recall how the script was delivered because I believe I received a substantial portion, with more yet to come - although I wasn't aware of the exact extent. I remember thinking, "There's a lot of loose ends to tie up!" Then, Jason handed me the remaining pages, and it suddenly all made sense. It's quite difficult to step back and realize, "Wow, guys... there are 80 pages here." We filmed the scenes in a chronological order, making it challenging to assess the overall length until everything is pieced together. Six weeks later, during the editing process, something else emerges at the end, although it's around 10 minutes shorter than before.

What's Been Said About Ted Lasso's Future After Season 3

Ahead of its premiere, there was much uncertainty surrounding whether or not Ted Lasso season 3 would mark the show's conclusion. Reports suggested that co-creator and star Jason Sudeikis intended to wrap things up after an extensive development process. Co-creator and star Brendan Hunt initially supported Sudeikis' sentiment about the show reaching its end, but has since shared a more perplexing update. He mentioned that they have not completely ruled out the possibility of a comeback after taking a break, aligning with Lowney's aforementioned statement.

Brett Goldstein, who stars in and frequently writes for Ted Lasso, has not been clear about the future direction of the show after the emotional season 3 finale.
