The latest adaptation of the anime distinguishes itself from its previous iteration. While the earlier version could be classified as a remake, the most recent adaptation closely adheres to the original storyline, surpassing its predecessor in terms of faithfulness.
Produced by Studio Gallop and Studio Deen, the initial Rurouni Kenshin anime was broadcasted from 1996 to 1998.
Relationship to first anime and source material
The original anime adaptation of the manga only covered the first two story arcs, consisting of a total of 95 episodes. However, the new anime adaptation, produced by Liden Films, goes beyond that and encompasses the entirety of the manga series. It even includes the third and final story arc that was overlooked in the previous adaptation.The newest anime adaptation remains true to the original manga series, in stark contrast to its predecessor that strayed from the source material. Unlike the previous adaptation, which only delved into the first two story arcs and lasted for a staggering 95 episodes.
However, the new anime stays true to the source material and encompasses the entirety of the story, in contrast to the manga which deviated and even had an altered ending.
Plot of the Rurouni Kenshin anime
The focal point of the narrative revolves around Kenshin Himura, a repentant former assassin striving to atone for his previous wrongdoings. Having forsaken his lethal ways, Kenshin embarks on a nomadic existence. Along his journey, he encounters Kaoru Kamiya, a youthful woman who runs a martial arts school in Tokyo.
Seeking shelter, Kenshin finds refuge at the dojo and lends a helping hand to Kaoru and her comrades in their ongoing struggles against various enemies who pose a threat to their lives and the peace of the nation.
