Highlights
Destroy and discard decks are popular in Marvel Snap due to their versatility and the frequent addition of new cards that support these archetypes.
Morbius, a budget-friendly card, can generate power by utilizing discarded cards during a match, but it fails to impress when compared to Knull, who can benefit from cards destroyed by both players.
Knull proves to be a formidable choice for decks focused on destruction, whereas Morbius necessitates more preparation to produce a substantial amount of power.
Destroy and discard decks are highly favored in Marvel Snap due to their versatility and the frequent release of new cards that enhance their effectiveness. Currently, Marvel Snap is in the early stages of its latest season in collaboration with Loki's second season on Disney Plus, which has significantly boosted destroy and discard decks. These decks are enhanced by various cards, including Knull, Mystique, Hellcow, and Carnage. However, a simple adjustment to a specific discard card would greatly strengthen these decks.
At present, move decks are gaining popularity, even when they are easily identified when a Nightcrawler or Iron Fist is played first. On the other hand, setting up destroy decks in the early game can be challenging if players have a poorly drawn hand or if opponents consistently play Armor and Professor X. Nevertheless, Knull is particularly advantageous in a destroy deck as he possesses unique abilities that most other cards lack. Therefore, if Morbius' ability to generate power from discarded cards functioned similarly to how Knull generates power from destroyed cards, discard decks would become even more viable.
Marvel Snap’s Living Vampire is Only Tangentially Viable
Marvel Snap's Morbius is a 2-Cost card that incentivizes early play due to its low cost. Interestingly, players do not necessarily need to have Morbius at a specific location early on to benefit from his ongoing ability. The power accumulation occurs autonomously, even when the card is in the players' hands. During a match, players can easily keep track of the number of cards they have discarded and mentally calculate the power that Morbius will reflect when played. However, unlike Knull, this power accumulation is not visually represented when Morbius is in the player's hand.
Furthermore, besides being played at any time and gaining power from discarded cards throughout the match, Morbius can be brought back with the same reflected power by cards like Hela or Ghost Rider, who have abilities that interact with discarded cards. However, Morbius has one stipulation that may make him less impressive than he deserves to be. He only generates power based on the cards the player has discarded, and not the opponent's discards.
Marvel Snap’s Symbiote God Benefits from Both Sides of a Match
Knull reigns superior over Morbius in Marvel Snap despite their different deck builds. Knull's power comes from destroyed cards on both the player and opponent's side, making him exceptionally powerful when facing other destroy decks. With allies like Mystique or Iron Man, Knull becomes highly useful as players don't need to worry about setting up his card in the final turns.
Magik ensures optimal timing for playing Knull, and Death synergizes well with him as destroyed cards boost his power while decreasing her cost. On the other hand, Morbius requires significant setup to achieve substantial power output. Marvel Snap's Dracula appears to be a more reliable option for discarding high-power cards.
Marvel Snap is available for mobile devices and PC.
