The Primal Incarnates in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight are formidable beings fueled by elemental power, and they are actively working to reshape Azeroth according to their own desires. However, players have started to realize that their supposed mission to save Azeroth from the influence of the Titans sounds strangely familiar. Their obsession with embracing chaos instead of order is a recurring pattern in the World of Warcraft storyline.
On a broader scale, there are two predominant forces in the universe that surrounds Azeroth: Order and Chaos, often symbolized by the opposing concepts of Void and Light. The Old Gods in World of Warcraft are formidable beings aligned with the Void, striving to spread chaos, corrupt everything they come into contact with, and spark unending conflict. The intricate relationship between the Old Gods and the elements, however, dates back to the very origins of Azeroth.
World of Warcraft's Elements Have Served the Void For Eons
Content: Millennia ago, the Old Gods arrived on Azeroth and extended their influence deep into the planet's core in search of the dormant Titan infant. These powerful beings waged war against the existing elemental forces of water, earth, storm, and fire, commanding their minions in relentless battles. Over time, the Old Gods triumphed, subjugating the Elemental Lords to carry out their desires.
The unruly elements proved to be valuable assets to the Black Empire due to their inherent chaotic nature. Unlike other planets, Azeroth lacked sufficient Spirit, the fifth element needed to harmonize and balance the natural forces. The elements on Azeroth were consumed by rage, provoking conflicts among themselves even before their enslavement. The lore surrounding WoW's Old Gods suggests that they merely provided purpose to this relentless destruction, as the Elemental Lords were innately inclined to bring chaos wherever they roamed.
Once the Titans had arrived and successfully imprisoned both the Old Gods and the Elemental Lords, the tumultuous planet finally settled, enabling the mortal races to progress. Despite their mutual dislike, the Old Gods and the Elements, being cunning by nature, utilized the elements to their advantage. For instance, the dragon Deathwing (formerly known as Neltharion) utilized earth and fire to initiate the resurrection of the Black Empire. Additionally, he ingeniously merged fire and shadow to create a potent new element known as Shadowflame, which possessed the ability to both burn and corrupt everything it touched.
The Primal Incarnates, embodiments of elemental power, are fervently determined to eradicate Order from every corner of Azeroth, a mission that perfectly aligns with that of the Old Gods. Whether driven by ignorance or indifference, the Primal Incarnates ultimately serve the Void. Recent events in the latest raid area, Aberrus, have revealed their willingness to succumb to void corruption in pursuit of greater power. Fyrakk, the Flame Incarnate, willingly infused his own body with Shadowflame, disregarding the twisted and impure state it has left him in. As long as he can unleash fiery devastation upon Azeroth's skies, the fate of the planet itself holds no significance to him.
The dragons, created by Titan Keeper Tyr, were meant to safeguard Azeroth in his absence. They serve as the ultimate defense against corruption, with high stakes involved. The Primal Incarnates aim to eradicate dragons, which would leave the planet vulnerable to all forms of corruption. The consequences of Azeroth falling to the Void would be catastrophic for the entire universe, not just the world of the playable races. Ultimately, the Incarnates cannot achieve victory without sealing Azeroth's fate, necessitating the heroes of World of Warcraft to unite and thwart them.
