The adolescents introduced in season 1 are the stars of Stranger Things, but supporting characters like Tina add depth to the story. Stranger Things is a popular Netflix series set in Hawkins, Indiana, where a group of preteen friends find themselves entangled in a conspiracy involving their telekinetic new friend Eleven and a dangerous parallel dimension called the "Upside Down". However, it's not just the kids who are affected by these strange events. The older teenagers in Stranger Things also play an important role, getting caught up in the mystery and battling extradimensional monsters while navigating the drama of high school.
Stranger Things has achieved great success in terms of viewership and critical acclaim. The series has received nominations for various prestigious awards, including the Primetime Emmys, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and the Golden Globes. Season 4 holds the record for the most-watched English language Netflix series within the first 28 days, according to Forbes. One of the reasons for Stranger Things' immense popularity is its exploration of the challenges teenagers face while growing up, making friends, and experiencing love. Although Tina is not deeply explored, her character still offers a glimpse into the wider world beyond the main Stranger Things protagonists.
Tina Is A Popular Hawkins High Student In Stranger Things Season 2
Madelyn Cline Plays Tina In Stranger Things
Tina, a member of the popular clique at Hawkins High School, was initially noticed alongside Carol Perkins and Vicki Carmichael in the parking lot, during the arrival of Billy Hargrove in Stranger Things season 2, episode 1 "Chapter One: MADMAX". Instantly captivated by the new student, Tina even makes a suggestive comment about his physique. Subsequently, she distributes flyers for her Halloween party, during which she dresses up as Madonna from her “Like a Virgin” era. Although Tina does not make another appearance in the series, considering the thorough accounting of deaths, it is reasonable to assume that Tina is alive and relatively well in Hawkins.
Prior to her breakout role as Sarah Cameron on the popular Netflix teen drama Outer Banks, Madelyn Cline had a brief appearance in Stranger Things season 2 as Tina. While Tina's character was primarily focused on popularity and partying, Sarah embodies a rebellious and individualistic persona, much like Nancy Wheeler. A stark contrast to her affluent upbringing, Sarah forms genuine connections with the working-class residents of the island, known as the Pogues, rather than solely aligning herself with the privileged Kooks.
Cline was also part of the Glass Onion: A Knives Out Murder Mystery ensemble, portraying the role of Whiskey, Duke's girlfriend and assistant on his Twitch channel. While Whiskey shares some similarities with Tina from Stranger Things in their love for parties, drinking, and attraction to muscular men, Cline skillfully portrays Whiskey as a mature and self-aware woman who confidently takes care of herself.
