USA Network's legal series, Suits, has become a favorite among Netflix viewers, prompting fans to question Patrick J. Adams' departure from the show.
Featuring Patrick J. Adams, Gabriel Macht, and Meghan Markle, the series revolves around Mike Ross, a brilliant college dropout who relied on his exceptional memory to secure employment at a law firm despite lacking a license.
Despite originally airing from 2011 to 2019, the show is experiencing a resurgence in popularity with its availability on Netflix. Consequently, new viewers are curious about the departure of Adams, who is widely regarded as the central figure of the series, at the conclusion of Season 7.
Patrick J. Adams exited Suits to focus on his personal life
Adams played the role of Mike Ross one last time as he made his exit at the end of Season 7 alongside Markle, who coincidentally left at the same time.
During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Adams revealed that his reason for leaving the show was to prioritize spending more time with his wife and child. He elaborated by stating that after seven seasons and being away from home for eight years, he felt the need to address this pressure. Adams shared that his decision began contemplating towards the end of the first half of season six, following Mike's release from prison. In terms of the storyline, he expressed uncertainty about what more there was for Mike to contribute. Additionally, he mentioned that Mike had made a commitment during his trial to focus on helping underrepresented individuals rather than serving corporate interests.
I was uncertain about how to incorporate that version of the character into the show's storyline. Aaron Korsh and I discussed it, and he suggested this solution: Harvey (Gabriel Macht) would offer a one-for-one deal to keep Mike working at the firm, allowing him to gather resources for more pro-bono cases. This idea sparked an intriguing seventh season. I am proud of the outcome of this season.

The actor from Suits was concerned about disappointing the show's fans, but also wanted to emphasize that the end of his character's storyline did not mean the end for the show itself.
Adams also disclosed that he and Korsh, the creator of Suits, had a lengthy discussion lasting three hours about how to handle Mike's departure in a way that honored the character they had collaboratively developed. "Aaron and I have dedicated seven years to this project," Adams remarked, "and it provided a genuine opportunity for us to bid farewell in this phase of our partnership."
