The Current Whereabouts of 'The Sopranos' Cast

During its six-season run, The Sopranos revolutionized television, earning a well-deserved reputation as one of the greatest shows of all time. The HBO crime drama debuted in January 1999 with Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) reluctantly seeking help from his new psychiatrist, Jennifer Melfi (Lorraine Bracco), following a panic attack. The pilot episode foreshadowed countless clashes between Tony and Dr. Melfi, remarkable patience from Tony’s wife, Carmela Soprano (Edie Falco), and their children, Meadow (Jamie-Lynn Sigler) and A.J. (Robert Iler), as well as an unprecedented amount of mafia-related violence and bloodshed on television.

The audience followed Tony as he attempted to balance his normal life in New Jersey with his leadership of a well-known crime organization. His struggles included his infidelity, which tested his marriage to Carmela, and his quick temper causing tension with his relatives, including his mother Livia Soprano and nephew Christopher Moltisanti.

The series, created by David Chase, received numerous awards including 21 Primetime Emmys, five Golden Globes, and two Peabody Awards. It also led to a successful video game, merchandise, and podcasts hosted by cast members. Additionally, a prequel movie titled The Many Saints of Newark is set to release in 2021, starring the late Gandolfini’s son, Michael Gandolfini, as a young Tony.

‘The Sopranos’ Cast: Where Are They Now?

During its six-season tenure, The Sopranos revolutionized television, cementing its status as one of the greatest shows in history.

The HBO crime series debuted in January 1999 with Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) reluctantly seeking treatment from his new psychiatrist, Jennifer Melfi (Lorraine Bracco), after a panic attack. The pilot set the stage for numerous clashes between Tony and Dr. Melfi, the enduring patience of Tony’s wife, Carmela Soprano (Edie Falco), and their children, Meadow (Jamie-Lynn Sigler) and A.J. (Robert Iler), as well as a level of mafia-related violence and bloodshed previously unseen on television.

Viewers watched as Tony navigated the challenges of managing a crime family while balancing life at home in New Jersey. His infidelity strained his marriage to Carmela, and his short fuse caused tension with other family members including his mother and nephew. The series, created by David Chase, received numerous awards and accolades, leading to spinoff projects like a video game, merchandise, and podcasts. A prequel movie titled The Many Saints of Newark, featuring Michael Gandolfini as a young Tony, is set to release in 2021.

James Gandolfini

Following his iconic role in The Sopranos, Gandolfini continued collaborating with HBO, producing the documentaries Alive Day Memories: Home From Iraq (2007) and Wartorn: 1861-2010 (2010) and the film Hemingway & Gellhorn (2012). He also worked with Chase again on the 2012 drama Not Fade Away.

In 2008, Gandolfini married former model Deborah Lin, and the couple welcomed their daughter, Liliana, in 2012. The actor tragically passed away from a heart attack in 2013 at the age of 51. His posthumous films, Enough Said and The Drop, were released in 2013 and 2014.

Edie Falco

Following The Sopranos, Falco starred in Showtime’s Nurse Jackie from 2009 to 2015, where she earned an Emmy. She went on to appear in Louis C.K.’s web series Horace and Pete (2016), NBC’s Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders (2017), CBS’ Tommy (2020), Impeachment: American Crime Story (2021), Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), and Bupkis (2023).

Falco has two children: Anderson and Macy.

Lorraine Bracco

Bracco appeared in TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles from 2010 to 2016 and had a recurring role in CBS’ Blue Bloods from 2017 to 2018. She also appeared in Showtime’s Dice and Netflix’s BoJack Horseman in 2016. More recent credits include The Birthday Cake (2021) and Disney's Pinocchio (2022), among other roles.

Bracco is the mother of two children: Margaux with ex-husband Daniel Guerard and Stella with ex-boyfriend Harvey Keitel.

Michael Imperioli

Imperioli ventured into directing in 2009 with The Hungry Ghosts and has taken on various detective roles in TV series such as NBC’s Law & Order (2005 to 2006), ABC’s Life on Mars (2008 to 2009), ABC’s Detroit 1-8-7 (2010 to 2011), and NBC’s Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector (2020). His recent work includes a role in the Oscar-nominated film One Night in Miami in 2020 and a part in HBO’s The White Lotus in 2022. He also cohosts the podcast “Talking Sopranos” with Schirripa.

Imperioli has three children, Vadim, David and Isabella, with wife Victoria Chlebowski.

Robert Iler

Iler largely retreated from the public eye following his role in The Sopranos, relocating to Las Vegas to pursue a career in professional poker. After battling substance abuse for years, he achieved sobriety in 2013. He previously co-hosted the podcast “Pajama Pants” with his onscreen sister, Sigler. They now host a podcast titled “Not Today Pal.”

Jamie-Lynn Sigler

Sigler portrayed a fictionalized version of herself in 13 episodes of HBO's Entourage from 2008 to 2009, and went on to appear in ABC's Ugly Betty in 2009 and NBC's Guys With Kids in 2012. She also had a recurring role as Tonya Walsh in Big Sky from 2021 to 2023.

Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at age 20, Sigler is married to Cutter Dykstra, with whom she has two children, Beau and Jack.

Dominic Chianese

Chianese, who portrayed Tony’s uncle Corrado “Junior” Soprano, was featured in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire from 2011 to 2013 and was honored with a SAG Award for his performance. In 2018, he penned a memoir titled Twelve Angels.

Steven Van Zandt

Van Zandt gained recognition for his portrayal of Tony’s close friend Silvio Dante on The Sopranos, and achieved even greater fame as a prominent member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, which was honored with induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. In addition to his musical accomplishments, Van Zandt showcased his acting talent in the Netflix series Lilyhammer from 2012 to 2014.

Van Zandt has been married to Maureen Santoro, who played his wife on The Sopranos, since 1982.

Vincent Pastore

Vincent Pastore has an impressive 180 acting credits to his name, but his most notable role to date is his portrayal of Tony's friend Salvatore "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero on The Sopranos. In addition to his role on The Sopranos, Pastore has made appearances on ABC's General Hospital (2008), Disney XD's Pair of Kings (2010 to 2012), Hulu's Wu-Tang: An American Saga (2019), and The Birthday Cake (2021). He has also been featured on reality shows such as VH1's Celebrity Fit Club (2006) and NBC's The Celebrity Apprentice (2008). On top of his acting career, Pastore also runs his own food business, Vincent Pastore's Italian Sauce. He is the father of a daughter named Renee, whom he shares with his ex-wife Nancy Berke.

Tony Sirico

Sirico, known for his role as Tony's associate Paul “Paulie Walnuts” Gualtieri, lent his voice to the character of Vinny, the Griffin family's dog on the Fox animated series Family Guy from 2013 to 2016. In addition to his work on television, Sirico has also appeared in Woody Allen films such as Café Society (2016) and Wonder Wheel (2017).

Sirico has two children, a daughter and a son. He died in July 2022 at the age of 79.

Drea de Matteo

Following her role as Christopher's fiancée Adriana La Cerva on The Sopranos, de Matteo appeared in various TV shows including NBC's Joey (2004-2006), FX's Sons of Anarchy (2008-2014), ABC's Desperate Housewives (2009-2010), NBC's Shades of Blue (2016-2018), ABC's A Million Little Things (2019), and Paradise City (2021). Additionally, she started an OnlyFans career in late 2022. De Matteo, who has two children named Alabama and Waylon with ex-fiancé Shooter Jennings, has been engaged to Whitesnake bass guitarist Michael Devin since 2015.

Aida Turturro

Turturro, known for her role as Tony’s sister Janice Soprano, has made appearances in various TV shows such as NBC’s ER (2008), HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm (2011), and NBC’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2016). She also had recurring roles on NBC’s Law & Order: SVU (2013 to 2016) and NBC’s The Blacklist (2017 to 2018). In 2021, she delivered a memorable guest appearance in an episode of What We Do in the Shadows as Gail the werewolf.

David Proval

Following his role as Richie Aprile on The Sopranos, Proval went on to feature in movies such as Smokin’ Aces (2006) and Balls of Fury (2007), as well as television series like HBO’s Vinyl (2016) and NBC’s Aquarius (2016).

John Ventimiglia

Ventimiglia, known for his role as chef Artie Bucco on The Sopranos, found success once again in 2011 when he became part of the cast of NBC’s Blue Bloods, where he remained until 2014. Following this, he took on the role of a detective in CBS’ The Good Wife from 2014 to 2015, and also appeared in Netflix’s Jessica Jones from 2018 to 2019 and Ex-Husbands in 2023.
