WARNING! This article contains spoilers for The Crowded Room! Episodes 7 and 8 of The Crowded Room reveal that several characters in Danny's storyline are actually his alters, leading to speculation about whether Annabelle may also be one. Annabelle made her first appearance in The Crowded Room when Danny shared his school days with Rya. Danny became instantly infatuated with her after seeing her at a party and had a brief interaction with her, encouraged by Mike and Jonny. Annabelle even kissed Danny, giving him a glimmer of hope. However, their potential romance took a heartbreaking turn when Annabelle began intentionally ignoring him at school.
After school ended, Annabelle crossed paths with Danny again at a local store, where he invited her to his party. This marked the beginning of a series of twists and turns in Danny's relationship with Annabelle, as his alters Jonny, Mike, and Ariana started emerging whenever she was present. Given Annabelle's significant role in Danny's overarching story in The Crowded Room, there is curiosity surrounding whether she, too, is one of Danny's alternate identities.
Annabelle Is Not One Of Danny's Identities In The Crowded Room
How The Crowded Room Episode 8 Changes Danny's Past Interactions With Annabelle
Contrary to the misconception, Annabelle is not one of Danny's alternate identities in The Crowded Room, and this fact is evident throughout various moments in the show. Notably, unlike Danny's alters from school, namely Mike and Jonny, Annabelle frequently engages with other characters who are undeniably unrelated to Danny's identities. Furthermore, while Danny's social circle at school mainly revolves around his alters, Annabelle appears to be associated with an entirely different peer group that includes individuals who do not even acknowledge Danny's presence. To further dispel any confusion, The Crowded Room episode 8 incorporates numerous flashbacks showcasing Danny's interactions with Annabelle through his alters.
In episode 8 of The Crowded Room, Rya convinces Danny to reflect on and acknowledge the times when his alternate identities emerged and interacted with the world around him. During this reflection, Danny recalls inviting Annabelle to his house party, under the belief that others could see Ariana, Jonny, and Mike as he does. However, since Ariana, Jonny, and Mike were Danny's alternate identities, Annabelle could only perceive Danny sitting alone at his self-proclaimed "party." According to Danny's perception, Ariana appeared and kissed Annabelle that same night as he observed from the sidelines.
In episode 8 of The Crowded Room, the scene is altered to reveal that Danny was engaged in a kiss with Annabelle while experiencing a dissociative episode, during which he could also see his alter, Ariana, kissing her. Similarly, it is clarified that it was actually Danny who assumed his alternate identity, Yitzhak, and forcefully overpowered the drug dealer, Angelo, in order to protect Annabelle. These instances not only establish that Annabelle is not Danny's alter in The Crowded Room, but also suggest that since she has witnessed the various identities Danny assumes, she may be able to provide testimony regarding his Dissociative Identity Disorder.
