Screen Rant: Your character Ariana is an interesting one — how did you find your way into [her]? What did you search for when bringing this character to life?

Sasha Lane: I believe there is a delicate balance between exhibiting confidence while also grappling with my own identity, emotions, and connections. Throughout the film, there are instances where I am clearly comfortable, expressive, and self-assured, taking control within my relationship with Danny. However, there are also moments when it's evident that I am vulnerable, fragile, and unsure of my actions. Yet, I display a certain level of calculated behavior, albeit subtly. Trying to merge all these elements together has been quite a thrilling and challenging journey for me. I appreciate the opportunity to explore Ariana's backstory and delve into the deeper meaning of her character, imagining where she may have originated had she been a real person.

Sasha Lane suggests that the character's behavior stems from trauma and attachment issues, making her struggle to form connections. She explains that in portraying the character, she combined various life experiences and derived her actions from them.

As the show revolves around Danny, the dynamics between him and Ariana play a crucial role in driving the plot. Lane is asked about how she and Tom (presumably the other actor) established Danny and Ariana's dynamic. They discuss the challenge of not revealing the true nature of their relationship in the initial episodes.

Sasha Lane believes that Ariana does not perceive herself as an alter and that their dynamic is something only they understand. Despite Ariana's awareness of her non-existence, she does not view herself as unreal, or at least, it is not a significant concern for her.

Early on, Tom and I noticed a subtle body language pattern between them. They rarely directly face each other unless necessary. Their communication style involves being cautious yet fully engaged, allowing for some playful exploration within their established boundaries. Despite these boundaries, they share a deep connection.

Do you and Tom find common ground in being part of the MCU? And was it a relief to work closely together on a project like The Crowded Room which is more down-to-earth?

Sasha Lane: I've had some experience in that world, though not to the extent of Tom. My focus has been more on grounded work, which is something I find exciting. It was thrilling for me to witness his performance in this new world and see him excel. I am eager for audiences to see his versatility. Being involved in this project has been a truly wonderful experience for me.
