Jensen Ackles is expected to return as Soldier Boy. Show creator Eric Kripke explained, "The old TV adage is like, never kill anyone unless you really, really have to. Never close a door, open a window. We'll all have to wait and see, but I can't imagine the series ending without Soldier Boy making another appearance."
Erin Moriarty, who plays Starlight, teased about her character's journey in The Boys, saying, "Oh my God, okay I'm sorry it's just, maybe this is just a good advertisement for Season 4, that I can't answer that without maintaining composure. I can't! No that's my earnest response! I'm actually scared to answer... She is adjusting great."
Nathan Mitchell’s character Black Noir met his demise in the Season 3 finale when Homelander brutally killed him for not revealing information about Soldier Boy. The public believes Maeve and Soldier Boy are both dead, but Maeve is actually living in seclusion with her partner while Soldier Boy is being held captive by the government.
Cameron Crovetti, who portrays Homelander’s son Ryan, has been promoted to a series regular for Season 4. There will also be new characters introduced, such as Valorie Curry’s Firecracker and Susan Heyward’s Sister Sage, who do not have any comic book origins.
And, as per Deadline, The Boys is welcoming another Winchester to the mix: Jeffrey Dean Morgan has officially joined The Boys Season 4 cast as a recurring guest star.
Kripke revealed in an interview with E! News that Jeffrey Dean Morgan, a big fan of the show, is in talks with him about potentially appearing in Season 4. Although nothing is confirmed yet, they are actively discussing and considering how to work around Morgan's busy schedule. Stay tuned for updates on this.
Prime Video recently released two photos from the new season of The Boys, featuring two new characters: Susan Heyward's Sister Sage and Valorie Curry's Firecracker, both looking sharp in their suits. According to The Boys' official Twitter page, Sage is described as "already a thousand steps ahead of you," while Firecracker is said to "have a short fuse." Black Mirror star Rosemarie DeWitt will join the cast as Hughie’s mother, a character who has not yet appeared in the show. Additionally, Supernatural’s Rob Benedict and Once Upon a Time’s Elliot Knight have been added to the cast in undisclosed roles. Returning for the spinoff are Maddie Phillips and Asa Germann as Cate and Sam, but it remains uncertain if other stars of Gen V, including Jaz Sinclair (Marie), Chance Perdomo (Andre), Lizze Broadway (Emma), Derek Luh (Jordan), and London Thor (also Jordan), will also appear.
The Boys Season 4 plot: What will it be about?
While there is no official synopsis available at the moment, Kripke has hinted at what the focus of the show will be. In an interview with Collider, he mentioned, "Moving forward, Ryan is a really important part of it. Both Butcher and Homelander have very good reasons to fight over Ryan, because the stakes could not be higher."
The possibility of Ryan following in Homelander's footsteps is a terrifying thought, as having two Homelanders in the world would be a nightmare for the planet. Butcher's ability to guide Ryan towards the light may be their best weapon against Homelander. Season 3 focused on the theme of fathers, so it would make sense for Season 4 to explore the theme of sons. In the teaser video for Season 4, it appears that Homelander will be on trial for the murder of a protesting civilian at the end of Season 3. Despite this, there is a chance he may be acquitted and continue to lead the Seven.
Homelander’s Starr promised that things are going to get even stranger in the next chapter. Speaking to Variety, he mentioned that the superhero show "somehow gets stranger and stranger and stranger," recalling a scene he shot for Season 4 where he was truly amazed by the bizarre nature of what he was doing.
In a recent interview with Collider, Pegg teased: “You know how wild The Boys is? It’s going to get even wilder. I had a blast on that show, and it was fantastic to return and play Hugh Sr. I love Jack [Quaid]. It was a great experience working with Rosemarie DeWitt, who plays Hughie’s mom and makes a return. It’s going to be fantastic. You’re going to love it."
"I appear in around four episodes and it was a fantastic experience to return. The crew is fantastic. They are an incredible group of individuals, and that show is absolutely amazing!
We also have information that The Boys spin-off Gen V will pave the way for future developments."
Claudia Doumit mentioned in a pre-strike interview with EW that shooting Gen V was a great experience as it sets the stage for a lot of upcoming events in season 4 of The Boys. She emphasized that Gen V lays the groundwork and foundations for the upcoming season, providing viewers with valuable information.
In an interview with Variety, Kripke also clarified the timeline between Gen V and Season 4, stating that in their minds it's only a few days after the events of Gen V. They aim to keep the timeline straightforward, avoiding the complex folding-in-on-itself timeline that can be confusing for viewers in other comic book universes.
Kripke described the timeline as very modular, with Season 3 of The Boys followed by Gen V, then The Boys Season 4, and then Gen V Season 2. He compared it to cars on a train rather than a plate of spaghetti.
The Boys Season 4: What happened in Season 3?
At the conclusion of Season 2, it was unveiled that Neuman was a supe who had utilized her abilities to detonate numerous heads in Congress. Hughie began the season collaborating with her, pursuing supes in the authorized manner with the embittered assistance of Butcher, Frenchie, and Kimiko.
The initial episode of the show included its most horrifying scene so far: Termite (a character similar to Ant-Man) enters his boyfriend's body through his penis, causing him to explode with his entrails spilling onto the floor.
Maeve has been secretly assisting Butcher without Vought's knowledge, providing him with temporary Compound V to give him superpowers including laser vision and super-strength. She instructs him to look into the deaths of Soldier Boy and Payback, as it may uncover a weapon capable of killing Homelander.
In Amazon Studios' "The Boys," Soldier Boy emerges as a formidable challenger to Homelander.
After uncovering Neuman's true identity as a supe and her betrayal of Stan Edgar, Hughie reunites with Butcher and the original team to embark on a mission in Russia. There, they encounter an ailing Soldier Boy who unleashes a devastating radioactive explosion, leaving Kimiko powerless.
Hughie starts taking Compound V and gains the power of teleportation, much to Starlight's dismay. Despite her pleas for him to stop, Hughie continues to use it, straining their relationship. Going against MM's wishes, The Boys join forces with Soldier Boy to seek revenge on the ex-Payback supes who betrayed him, with the promise of assisting in Homelander's demise. This puts them at odds with MM, who seeks revenge for Soldier Boy's actions.
Amazon StudiosHomelander and Starlight were coerced into a relationship by Vought.
In the meantime, Homelander's behavior has been increasingly erratic since the pilot episode. When Stormfront's true nature as a Nazi is exposed, he finds himself in the midst of a public relations disaster, which only worsens when Stormfront commits suicide by biting off her own tongue just hours before his birthday special.
However, there is a positive turn of events: Homelander takes advantage of the airtime during his celebrations to deliver a far-right tirade, resulting in a surge in his ratings. Additionally, Starlight's popularity leads to her being coerced into a fake relationship with Homelander, disgustingly called "Homelight."
In Episode 6, the highly-anticipated Herogasm takes place, featuring a weekend-long superhero orgy. Amid the sexual content, it also showcases a remarkable superhero battle: Soldier Boy, Butcher, and Hughie against Homelander. Surprisingly, Homelander is defeated, but he manages to escape.
In Episode 7, Starlight goes into hiding after livestreaming her targeting of Homelander and publicly resigning from The Seven. Reluctantly, she assists Kimiko in retrieving Compound V from the tower so that Kimiko can regain her powers after Soldier Boy’s attack.
Meanwhile, Soldier Boy, Butcher, and Hughie pursue Mindstorm, uncovering more about Black Noir's troubled history. During his time with the Payback team, he endured brutal beatings and mistreatment from Soldier Boy, leading to resentment from other supes.
While on a mission in Nicaragua, portrayed through a cartoon flashback, it's revealed that Stan Edgar instructed Black Noir to eliminate Soldier Boy in order to create space for Homelander. In the resulting fight, Soldier Boy brutally beats Black Noir, causing half of his face to melt and his skull to shatter.
The most impactful moment comes in the final minutes, as Soldier Boy contacts Homelander and discloses that he is his father.
Homelander pays a visit to Ryan in the final scene, preying on his feelings of loneliness and offering to always take care of him. At the same time, Soldier Boy grapples with a shocking revelation, as Butcher urges him to proceed with his plan to eliminate Homelander.
Back at Vought Tower, Black Noir reunites with Homelander, only to be betrayed and violently attacked when Homelander discovers his knowledge of Soldier Boy's existence.
All the characters gather at the tower, and a confrontation between Butcher and Soldier Boy breaks out when Soldier Boy attempts to harm Ryan. This leads to an unexpected alliance between Butcher and Homelander, while Maeve ends up in a fight with Homelander. In the meantime, Starlight decides to join forces with The Boys after Butcher regains his strength from using temporary V, but he is faced with the news that he only has a year and a half left to live.
As the episode nears its conclusion, Homelander lands among his supporters and presents them to Ryan. When a fan of Starlight calls Homelander a "fascist," he instantly kills the fan in front of the crowd – resulting in cheers and a chilling smile on Ryan's face.

As an enthusiastic fan of "The Boys," I am eagerly anticipating the release of Season 4. The show's unique blend of dark humor, intense action, and social commentary has made it a standout in the superhero genre.
The third season left us with several cliffhangers, and I can't wait to see how the story unfolds in the next chapter. I'm particularly interested in seeing how the Boys will deal with the fallout from Homelander's actions and how the power dynamics within Vought will shift. The show has never shied away from tackling controversial topics, and I'm sure Season 4 will continue to push the boundaries.
Overall, I'm excited to see what the future holds for "The Boys." The show has consistently delivered high-quality entertainment, and I have no doubt that Season 4 will be no exception. Bring on the chaos!
