Terrifying Nightmare Unearthed: Shocking Disturbance Forces Editor's Neighbors to Summon Police

Unsettling realism in Saw X prompts neighbors to call police Kevin Greutert's account unveils the true impact of the film's traps, demonstrating their chilling effectiveness

Summary

Saw X's traps are so effective that neighbors called the police on an editor working on the sound mixing, mistaking realistic screams for someone being tortured to death.

The franchise surpasses limits in depicting gore and violence, specifically emphasizing intense screaming with the "eye vacuum trap."

The traps' effectiveness stems from their lifelike nature, anchoring the horror in reality and eliciting discomfort and shock among audiences.

During post-production of Saw X, director Kevin Greutert recounts an incident involving First Assistant Editor Steve Forn and the police. Forn had just finished working on the sound design for the "eye vacuum trap" scene when the intense screams heard from the sequence led the neighbors to believe that someone was being tortured to death in Forn's offices. This misunderstanding prompted the police to intervene and inquire about the situation. Here's what the director had to say about the incident.

Kevin Greutert's Story Proves How Effective Saw X's Traps Are

Someone knocked on the door. We captured on the doorbell camera the footage of the police officers approaching, Forn answering the door, and the police officers informing him, ‘The neighbors have called us, stating that someone is being tortured to death inside this residence.’ Surprisingly, he responded by saying, ‘Actually, I’m just working on a movie... You can come inside and see it if you’d like?’ This cracked up the police officers! They replied, ‘We would love to, but you seem alright.’” It must have been an incredibly authentic performance! This incident is quite amusing... Especially considering that Steve is such a calm and gentle person. I can only imagine the expression on his face when he realized the situation!

The effectiveness of the film's traps is evident as neighbors felt compelled to report one of Saw X's editors to the police, despite the story culminating in a positive manner. Throughout the Saw franchise, the boundaries of gore and extreme violence have consistently been pushed by subjecting characters to intricate and twisted traps. However, the tenth installment takes this to a new level. Significantly promoted through its poster, the "eye vacuum trap" garners attention for the intense moments of the trapped character's agonizing screams.

The realistic screams heard by the neighbors highlight the horrifying nature of the scene. Despite the exaggerated traps in the Saw franchise, the filmmakers always ground each installment in reality to ensure the audience is genuinely shocked by the traps. Saw X continues this tradition and reintroduces the elements that made the franchise memorable, with realistically gruesome traps that will make viewers squirm at every twist and turn.

The release of Saw X opens up endless possibilities for future prequels focused on John Kramer, allowing for even more elaborate traps involving the infamous Jigsaw killer. In the latest installment, Kramer carries out a deeply personal vendetta against individuals who have been deceitful, creating a scene that was so lifelike in its sound design that the police were called to investigate. Although the future of the franchise remains uncertain, the creative team behind the new sequel will need to find innovative ways to keep the traps fresh and exciting.
