Coachella is known for a few things you can count on: pricey drinks, massive crowds, and surprise performances by Justin Bieber.
Despite dealing with health issues and maintaining a low profile, the 30-year-old "Baby" singer delighted fans once again by making a surprise appearance on the Coachella stage on Sunday, April 14. Just like his previous appearances, Bieber's cameo was not announced beforehand, although Tems did suggest that she had something exciting planned for her set.
"I can't contain my excitement for Coachella! I have a surprise planned for tonight," she shared on X.
During her performance, the 28-year-old singer surprised the audience by bringing out Afrobeats star Wizkid and Bieber. The trio then performed their popular 2021 hit, "Essence."
Bieber made his second appearance of 2024 at Coachella, following his return in February. He looked relaxed and confident on stage, sporting a cozy hoodie, loose khaki pants, and a cap covering his shaggy hair.
The crowd erupted in excitement as the camera zoomed in on a joyful Bieber enjoying his time on stage once more. As the song came to an end, Bieber expressed his love to the audience before leaving.

Bieber has a habit of surprising fans with performances at Coachella. In 2022, he joined Daniel Caesar to sing their hit song, "Peaches." Three years earlier, Bieber made a surprise appearance during Ariana Grande's set. Grande, who initially had no plans for guest appearances, was happy to have Bieber join her and the fans for a fun performance of his song, "Sorry."
During that time, Bieber had taken a break from performing. In 2019, he mentioned, "I haven't been on stage in, like, two years." Despite not expecting to perform at Coachella, he showed up in a stylish outfit, unaware of the surprise performance awaiting him.
"He added that he had to get his groove back, he had to get his swag back, you know what I’m saying? Thank you so much, Coachella. Thank you so much, Ariana Grande."
Similar to 2019, Bieber has recently taken a break from the spotlight and the stage after being diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome in 2022. This disorder left his face temporarily partially paralyzed and led to the cancellation of the remaining dates on his Justice World Tour.
In February, Justin Bieber made a comeback with his first public performance in more than a year at the NHL All-Star Weekend in Toronto. There were speculations that he would join Usher's Super Bowl LVIII Halftime show, but Lil Jon, who was part of the event, shared that Justin wasn't quite prepared to jump back into performing.
