During her concert in Buenos Aires on November 11th, Taylor Swift surprised us once again with her Eras Tour by adding mash-ups to her song setlist. She kicked off her acoustic section with "Is It Over Now? (From the Vault)" and smoothly transitioned into "Out of the Woods," performing the chorus.
During the Eras Tour show, Swift mesmerizes the audience with a three-hour set. Each night, she surprises the crowd by alternating two songs and rarely repeating her selections. This Saturday's show included a captivating performance of "End Game" from Reputation and something truly special happened – Swift treated her fans to live renditions of "Out of the Woods" and "Is It Over Now? (From the Vault)" for the first time on tour. Coincidentally, this marked the debut of "Out of the Woods" since she released her re-recorded version of 1989 (Taylor's Version) last month.
As Swift skillfully strummed her guitar, a subtle glance from the talented artist caught the attention of observant Swifties. Speculation quickly spread on social media, suggesting that the glance was connected to the song's rumored inspiration: Harry Styles.
Swift and Styles, 29, were briefly involved romantically in late 2012, but they went their separate ways by January 2013. Less than a year later, in October 2014, Swift released her album "1989" which led fans to speculate that the songs "Style" and "Out of the Woods" were inspired by Styles. Swift is known for not explicitly disclosing the subjects of her music, but fans believed "Out of the Woods" was influenced by their relationship due to a reported snowmobile accident they both experienced. (Styles was seen wearing a bandage in a photograph taken shortly after the incident.)
On "Out of the Woods," Taylor Swift recalls a past incident where they braked abruptly, resulting in twenty stitches in a hospital room. Both she and her partner shed tears during the situation.
The song "Is It Over Now?" was originally not included in the tracklist for 1989. Fans first discovered its lyrics on the rerecorded version of 1989 (Taylor's Version). Speculation among Swifties arose, suggesting that the lyrics hinted at her thoughts after her split with Styles, who quickly moved on with model Kendall Jenner.
In one part of the song, Swift sings, "And did you think I didn't see you? / There were flashing lights," possibly alluding to her ex being photographed with his new partner. She continues, "At least I had the decency / To keep my nights out of sight / Only rumors about my hips and thighs / And my whispered sighs."
Saturday’s show was unforgettable for Swift fans, thanks to a special appearance by Travis Kelce, her new beau. The 34-year-old football star joined Taylor's father, Scott Swift, in the VIP section. The highlight of the night was when Taylor surprised everyone by giving Kelce a heartfelt shout-out during her performance of "Karma." With a playful giggle, she substituted the original lyric "screen" with Kelce's team name, referring to him as "the guy on the Chiefs, coming straight home to me."
