Surprising Twist Revealed: Get Ready for an Epic Metal Gear Solid Anime Series!

Metal Gear Solid shrinks its iconic characters in an unexpected twist, as the new anime series, Mini Gear, delivers a delightful adventure with the beloved cast in pint-sized form

Metal Gear Solid now has an official anime, but it's anything but expected.

Contrary to a lavish and expensive animated version of the Metal Gear Solid series, Konami's official YouTube series, Mini Gear, takes a different approach. It reimagines the well-received "tactical espionage action" franchise by transforming its characters and storylines. In this instance, renowned figures like Solid Snake and Colonel Roy Campbell are depicted in a humorous, almost chibi-like manner.

In what Konami labels as the first installment of a series, Snake expresses his exhaustion with the "one-man infiltration mission" concept, going as far as jokingly suggesting that the series should be rebranded as "Manic Gear," reasoning that only someone utterly "crazy" would willingly continue with such perilous tasks. He also astutely picks up on Campbell's aura of impending treachery, a remark that will likely amuse avid fans of the franchise.

Despite Snake's initial reluctance to embark on any more stealthy escapades, his resolve swiftly crumbles upon catching a glimpse of a mysterious substance. Instantly reinvigorated, he eagerly anticipates his upcoming venture to Shadow Moses Island and enthusiastically embraces the notion of "crawling around" and "concealing himself within cardboard boxes," much to Campbell's satisfaction.

The purpose of the series is to promote Konami's upcoming release, Metal Gear Solid: The Master Collection Vol. 1, scheduled to launch on October 24. This collection includes Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, and 3, as well as Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2, all in one package for modern consoles. In addition, Konami is currently working on a complete remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, although no release date has been announced for the project.

On the other hand, updates about the film adaptation of Metal Gear Solid by director Jordan Vogt-Roberts have been scarce. Oscar Isaac, who was cast as Solid Snake, mentioned last year that the Metal Gear Solid movie was still in development and expressed optimism that the project would come to fruition. He shared that the creative team behind the film was actively searching for the right story before they could proceed with production, likening their efforts to Solid Snake's determination.
