Claire Danes and her husband Hugh Dancy have recently celebrated the arrival of their third child.
Confirming the news on Tuesday, July 11, People announced that Danes, 43, has given birth to a beautiful baby girl. This precious addition now completes their lovely family, which already includes their two sons: Cyrus, aged 10, and Rowan, aged 4.
A representative for the couple confirmed in January that Claire Danes, known for her role in My So-Called Life, and her husband Hugh Dancy, who is 48 years old, were expecting their third child.
Just one day after making the announcement, Danes revealed her baby bump at the 2023 Golden Globes. Although she walked the red carpet alone, the actress, best known for her role in Homeland, told Access Hollywood's Mario Lopez that the pregnancy was "unplanned, but we are excited for this new chapter."
Danes and Dancy first crossed paths while working together on the film Evening in 2007. Instantly, there was a strong connection between them. However, Danes was cautious about getting involved in a serious relationship.
In a February 2017 interview with Marie Claire, Danes revealed, "I had recently become single and it was a new experience for me, so we started off as friends." She further shared, "We first met in Rhode Island during the incredibly beautiful fall season. There was this one day when we were cycling by the glittering water, and everything felt perfect and magical. It was in that moment that I realized, 'I am genuinely happy.'"
Despite the affection Danes received from others, she made the deliberate choice to temporarily step away from romantic involvements. Nevertheless, after a brief encounter during a break from a production, she came to the realization that Dancy was the one she truly desired.
On the other hand, Dancy recollected the commencement of their love story in a contrasting manner. Unveiling his ignorance about initially being perceived as a casual affair by his wife, he disclosed this revelation during an interview on The Michelle Collins Show in May 2020.
"I must clarify that this information comes as a surprise to me, and I appreciate the opportunity to address it," expressed the famous actress of Ella Enchanted. "All I can say is that I'm grateful that my wife decided to engage in a brief romantic encounter with a partner who did not meet expectations. The outcome could have been different, but who can say for certain?"
Following a marriage proposal from Dancy, the couple exchanged vows in a ceremony held in France in September 2009. Cyrus, their first child, arrived nearly eight months later in December 2012, and Rowan was born six years after that.
Danes has previously discussed her choice to delay having children.
"I've always had a desire to have kids, but I'm grateful that I waited until now. Initially, I was quite apprehensive about balancing work and motherhood," she shared with Elle magazine during an interview in February 2013. "I don't think I would excel as a stay-at-home mom. It simply isn't a good fit for me. I feel incredibly fortunate that I've been able to pursue acting with unwavering dedication."
Prior to her involvement with Dancy, Danes was in a highly publicized relationship with Billy Crudup from 2003 to 2006. This former couple gained significant media attention when the actor, known for his role in Coast of Utopia, left his pregnant partner Mary-Louise Parker to be with Danes.
During an appearance on Howard Stern's SiriusXM radio show in October 2015, Danes openly discussed the controversial nature of this past relationship.
"I was completely enamored by him," she expressed at the moment. "I had an urge to delve into those feelings, especially as I was 24... I hadn't fully comprehended the potential repercussions." As for Dancy, he had previously been in a relationship with his Ella Enchanted co-star Anne Hathaway between the years 2002 and 2004.
