Nathan Fillion’s Green Lantern Casting Was Inevitable

As mentioned earlier, it was inevitable that Fillion would be cast as Green Lantern. Not only has he previously played Hal Jordan in the DC Animated Movie Universe, but he is also a close friend and frequent collaborator of Gunn's. Fillion has appeared in each of Gunn's films, either in a cameo or a supporting role. Even when Gunn felt that he didn't have a suitable cameo for Fillion in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, he still found a way to include him in the project through the character of Simon Williams, who appears in fictitious movie posters that unfortunately didn't make it into the final cut.

With Gunn at the helm of the DC Universe reboot, it was evident that Fillion would be incorporated in some capacity. The specifics of his character's storyline in "Superman: Legacy" will remain undisclosed until the film draws nearer, but Fillion is undeniably well-suited for the role. Gardner could potentially introduce Kal-El/Superman (played by David Corenswet) to the Green Lanterns, hinting at their significance in the broader DCU before Hal Jordan and John Stewart make their much-anticipated debut on Max's Lanterns TV series.
