Note from the editor: Look of the Week is a series that discusses the most talked-about outfit of the last seven days, covering everything from the good to the bad and the ugly. Actor Jeremy Allen White's popularity seems to be unstoppable, whether it's due to his film projects, paparazzi photos, or tabloid headlines about his activities.
White, the Emmy-nominated actor, may have been made in Chicago (the location of his widely-lauded drama series "The Bear"), but he was actually born in New York. That's why it's only fitting that he has bestowed his hometown with the gift of his latest, internet-breaking moment: an underwear ad campaign that signifies his debut for Calvin Klein.
The shoot is a homage to both White and Calvin Klein's hometown: New York.

Photographer Mert Alas captures White frolicking on a sun-soaked rooftop shirtless or pantless and sometimes both in the campaign imagery. In all cases, he's wearing Calvin Klein's "most emblematic" underwear. When he does have a shirt on, the classic white tank top he sports becomes a symbol of style and confidence, reminiscent of iconic figures like Marlon Brando, Paul Newman, and Rock Hudson. It's a litmus test for a would-be heartthrob, leaving no room to hide. If you can pull off a plain tank, like White does from the very start of the campaign video, you can pull off anything. "I didn't see this in my future necessarily," White humbly expressed to GQ about the shoot. "Who grows up thinking, 'Yeah, I'll be in a Calvin Klein campaign?'"
White is set to star in the upcoming A24 pro-wrestling film "The Iron Claw."

He succeeded, though. And he's joining the ranks of stars like Michael B. Jordan, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Jamie Dornan, BTS Jung Kook, and Jacob Elordi, among others, who the brand has portrayed as symbols of both ordinary and exceptional desirable masculinity.
This week's fashion spotlight: Timothée Chalamet rocks a shirtless suit once again. Similarly, the portrayal of sometimes toxic masculinity is a common theme for White. In "The Bear," he takes on the role of a tortured and short-tempered yet soft-hearted chef, while his latest project, A24's "The Iron Claw," is a pumped-up biopic of the 1980s professional wrestling brothers Kevin, Kerry, David, and Michael Von Erich. Both White and his co-star Zac Efron have discussed the intense physical training required for their roles. This includes White putting on 40 pounds of muscle, some of which he shed before his Calvin Klein shoot, as reported by GQ.
After years on Showtime's "Shameless," the actor's big break was the fast-paced restaurant drama "The Bear."

The Calvin Klein campaign video reveals additional scenes featuring White: a slow-motion run up a staircase, a dramatic undressing down to his briefs, and a seemingly effortless pull up.
All the while, New Yorks skyline is never out of sight. The images "showcase (Whites) connection to the city," read a press release from the brand. Though its not the view many are concentrating on.
