Barcelona netted three goals in the last nine minutes to secure the Joan Gamper Trophy and hand Tottenham a 4-2 loss in their ultimate pre-season match.
Despite the absence of key players Harry Kane, James Maddison, Cristian Romero, and Dejan Kulusevski, Spurs displayed a promising performance at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona before succumbing to fatigue.
Oliver Skipp scored two goals in the first half to cancel out Robert Lewandowski's early opener and bring Ange Postecoglou's team one step closer to their third consecutive pre-season win. However, Ferran Torres' equalizer in the 81st minute broke Tottenham's resistance. In the final moments of the game, Ansu Fati and Abde Ezzalzouli scored to secure a dramatic first victory for Barcelona at their temporary home, as redevelopment works at the Camp Nou continue.
Tottenham conceded a goal early in the match, within just two minutes, when Raphinha made a fantastic run and delivered a precise cross to Lewandowski, who then struck the ball with his left foot into the net past goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.
Against the flow of the game, Spurs managed to equalize with their first significant attack. Skipp capitalized on the opportunity after Giovani Lo Celso hit the post at the end of a well-executed counter-attack.
Skipp, with only one goal to his name throughout his entire tenure with Spurs, demonstrated a remarkable turn of events just before the end of the first half. He soared above Frenkie de Jong to expertly head Ivan Perisic's cross into the net, leaving Marc-Andre ter Stegen hapless.
In the second half, Barca relentlessly attacked Spurs' lead, bombarding the visitor's goal. However, a disciplined defensive performance, led by Davinson Sanchez, seemed poised to thwart the home team's efforts.
That changed when Sergio Reguilon was caught out of position, enabling substitute Ezzalzouli to break away and deliver a cross for Torres to equalize for Barcelona.
From that point on, the home team appeared to be the only one with the potential to win the match. Vicario made an impressive save to deny Marcos Alonso's free-kick, but it was futile as Barcelona launched a fierce attack towards the end, resulting in goals from Fati and Ezzalzouli, securing victory for the hosts.
Harry Kane latest: Bayern preparing new £94.6m bid
Bayern Munich intends to present a revised bid for Harry Kane in the range of €110m (£94.6m), inclusive of additional bonuses, either on Tuesday or Wednesday. Despite their previous offer, which exceeded €100m (£86m) including add-ons, being turned down on Monday, the German champions remain determined to secure the 30-year-old's signature.
Bayern is aware that Kane seeks to resolve his future this week, before Tottenham's opening game against Brentford on Sunday. Sky Germany reports that Kane's acquisition remains the utmost priority for the Bayern hierarchy. However, a mutual agreement between the clubs is not imminent, and at present, Kane appears inclined to stay at Tottenham.
